For a while now I've been dealing with a double ingrown nail on my left big toe, that had recently become very very infected.
Had the parts of nail and the infected tissue removed today, and watched the entire process.
Actually watching doctors cut and remove small chunks of flesh from your body is pretty surreal when you can't feel any of it.

I had an issue like that before but they removed the nail before it got bad, but it grew back. Now like split parts grow from the left and right of the toe and the nail doesn't connect anymore. It's kinda gross.

So I just got that disgusting thing where snot hangs from (and is completely stuck to) my uvula.

This time, I used tweezers to grab it instead of coughing or drinking water.

Oh my god I am doing it every time from now on, it took just one try. No more disgusting uvula snot for me.

While I haven't tried that, don't you run the risk of accidentally touching the uvula itself and thereby triggering the gag reflex?

Touching my uvula, even flicking it back and forth for the hell of it, does not make me barf.

I can stick my finger down my throat and I don't feel any urge to throw up at all.

And a quick jaunt over to Wikipedia proves me wrong. Yet I can touch my uvula to no effect.

My gag reflex is incredibly sensitive to touch, but it never makes me vomit. Instead, I just dry-retch for a second. Then it usually calms down.

I don't know if that's normal or not, but I'm grateful for that. If I vomited every time I started gagging, then I'd be puking whenever I brushed my teeth.

Man I have horrible gag reflex, I accidently threw up on my orthadontist because she slipped and touched my uvula.
