A "reformed" lurker is basically a new member who is already familiar with their environment. They're much less likely to make stupid mistakes or ask questions, and they know most of the forum's members well enough to relate to them from the first post.
Some of the interest goes away once the novelty of being new is worn out. If you really are a boring person, they'll find out after you decide to stay, but don't just tell these people (or yourself) that you aren't interesting. Interest is dependent on the observer, after all.
