I actually saw District 9[/i] recently, and thought it was the best movie of the year. Quite possibly one of the best movies I've seen, now that I think about it...It was just so sad and moralyzing.
Is that the Sci-Fi thing? I've seen one trailer and it was really vague, but my dad won't shut up about it. I LOVE sci-fi.
I really love movies, but just don't often get a chance to either:
- Go to the threater and see them.
or
- See them in general. (Rent, buy, on TV, whatever)
But I love horror, comedy, and romance. Mixing all three is awesome. I also like singing but sometimes you just can't combine that many things and make it good.
I love The Evil Dead series, Moulin Rouge, Splinter, Kinky Boots, Labyrinth, Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, The Hangover, uhm my mind has blanked on my other favourites.
I expressed before I hated Donnie Darko and still do. That's the only movie I can think of that I really do hate, simply because I know too many people that insist I can't hate it at all. For it is brilliance. And brilliance has no need for any other opinions.
Battle Royale is probably the strangest movie I have ever seen because of the final part of the movie.
The teacher... when the hell did he have time to do the painting? HE WAS IN A ROOM WITH GUARDS. THE GUARDS WEREN'T IN ON HIS PLAN. WTF?
He shoots them with a water pistol and then rises seemingly from the dead just to answer his phone and tell his daughter she's a bitch.

The trailer really makes it look like something it isn't, but I haven't seen it so maybe IMDb lied to me. (I doubt it.)
It's a fake documentary about aliens coming to earth and basically being treated as refugees/immigrants. They're put in their own special district (district 9). The doctumentor is a human who goes to district 9 to document their lives.
I... I hope that's not too spoiler-y. I tried to just post the bare bones of the plot.
Edit: Dammit, I double-posted by mistake and now Ame has posted and I can't fix it. Dark (or the next available mod), help? D8

Cool. Sounds great. I might go see it now.
Also MUSICALS. Love 'em. Don't know why. I've not seen many, but the one's I have seen have been great- The Producers, Little shop of Horrors, Blues Brothers (technically), and countless oldies that I can't recall the name of.
Anyone who likes musicals and a little bit of "strange" should go see Kinky Boots.
It's based on a true story, of an old fashioned shoe factory having to come up with a new idea to stay in business. They start making shoes for transvestites with the help of a MTF who sings in a club.

I used to watch PG13 movies, but I've pretty much stopped watching them entirely. I get tired of Hollywood filling movies with filth for filth's sake. You can write a story which appeals to the adult senses without making it trashy.
Notably, the last movie I went to see was Up. I thought it was very good, and I found it to be a great example of the sort of family-oriented movies that I enjoy. Was kinda sad, but I still liked it. Actually made me cry at some spots, and I haven't had a movie do that to me in ages. I could really relate a lot of the emotions Carl went through in that movie.

I'm not soulless. I have plenty of souls. They're just not mine.

Maybe. I've heard it's pretty famous/popular, but it's British and I only saw it because my art teacher was british and she brought it in to show it for our "you're going to make a pair of shoes" assignment.
I don't know the first movie I ever saw, but I know the first word I ever said was "BATMAN!" because I was taken to the threater with my mother, uncle, and brother to see it, and they were all taking about it after it ended and I wanted to join in.
So I shouted BATMAN at the top of my lungs right next to my mother's ear. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason she remembered it happening. XD
The first movie I remember seeing in theater was probably Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.
I also remember going to see Aladdin and The Lion King when it was in theaters as well.

I like comedies best. Films along the lines of 'Rushmore' and 'facebattle facebattle Bang Bang' are my favourite.
The last movie I saw in theaters was Inglourious Basterds. I liked it a lot, but it's definitely not for everyone; anyone who doesn't like QT probably wouldn't be swayed by it. Looong movie.

I still want to see that movie.
I remember this one horror movie I saw, "The Haunting of Molly Hartley". It was a HUGE disappointment. Not scary at all.
