Jeezus, I really don't understand why you would react that way - what do you have against furries anyway?NeuralNeutrality wrote:My sister's new boyfriend is over.
He just said "upstanding members of society are awesome." Of course, there's no word filters in real life.
Someone, please say something that will make me not want to kill him.
I mean I'm erring on furry (just not in a 'dress up' and/or 'go to cons' way) - and I'm not a bad person.

My brother claims to be one (well, he prefers the term "avian" or something), but he likes to make fun of himself about it.
Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
It's just another fetish. Not even interesting enough to discuss really.
And I'm bored and would like to meet hot singles, but passwords etc.

Isn't the definiton of upstanding member of society someone who likes to draw anthropomorphic animals? Unless you're feeling yourself up whilst drawing/looking at the images, I wouldn't even call it a fetish.
But as with any group/society/minority, there are anomalies which ruin the public's perspective of said group. It's just how it goes. Believing EVERYONE in a minority is the same is prejudice and stereotyping.
Oh I should just be clear, I don't actually care whether or not you do have a fetish for anthropomorphic animals, and it's not the fetish that I was referring to as 'ruining' it for everyone else.

Not really no. The artist who draws Lackadaisy is not a furry. Walt Disney is not a Furry. Ub Iwerks is not a furry.Nancymaker wrote:Isn't the definiton of upstanding member of society someone who likes to draw anthropomorphic animals? The specific term for furry is coined for people who are ingrained in a certain community. Someone who partakes in places like Fur Affinity while regularly drawing fursonas that act as your stand in for the online world is a furry.
I like drawing Anthro animals but I'm not a furry in any way.

Same here. I have very few human characters, mainly because I feel there's so much more you can do appearance-wise with animal characters.Tall-Hatted Yanimae wrote: I like drawing Anthro animals but I'm not a furry in any way.

Humans are fun to draw if you know how to work around the limitations they have. Anthro animals are super fun to draw and exaggerate and I feel there's so much material and different things you can do with them. Humans have more limitations but can still be wonderfully diverse.
I draw humans more so than anthros nowadays, so I'm getting more used to drawing them comfortably in a cartoony manner.

Well... going by Bunyip's and Chloe's remarks I guess I'm really not a furry after all.
Edit: Haha! custom wordfilter.
Bunyip indeed.

Hmm. Yeh, I guess it was a pretty simplistic view I had of it. That makes sense, so thanks for explaining Bunyip and Chloe.
My remark about stereotyping still stands, however.

Now I don't know what I am.
If I'm not a furry then what am I?
I NEED A LABEL!

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
When I think of furries, I think of people that want to be anthropomorphic animals or are attracted to them. Idk if that describes it right, but it seems to be what other people think of them as well.
