I just taught my Pokemon all the strongest attacks and expected to win
I thought all attacks with under 60 attack power were useless.

AND NOW LOOK AT ME
ALMOST NO DIFFERENT

I gave up on training some Pokemon because they seemed underpowered. It wasn't until gen 3.* - when it was made visibly clear which moves were physical or special attacks, that I realised I had been mistaken.

I didn't even realise that the power of moves were directly linked to the Attack and Special Attack stats until that point.

It was only then that I started to understand the significance of the stats and EV training.

* Or gen 4. - I forget.

I taught my Charizard cut when I played Blue. I think everyone did that.

I always thought it was annoying that in the first and second games attacks were considered Physical or Special based on the type of attack. Because when I think of Shadow Ball, I totally think a physical attack.

I love the feeling I get when my purposefully underleveled level 34 Quilava takes down a Magneton 11 levels above it.

Why is it purposefully underleveled, that seems silly

My Typlosion in Gold took down Lance's whole team. I loved that Typlosion. He knew:
Hidden Power (electricity)
Rollout
Flame Wheel
Flamethrower

I miss him.

Haha I think I completely ignored stats when I was younger. And I don't think I used healing items for some reason. Used plenty of Rare Candies, though (oh, Missigno.). Um, I kinda had some trouble with the Elite in Silver, untill I just decided to use nothing but my starter through the whole game.

I was thinking about how cute a baby form for Absol (and and Lapras) would be earlier.

Yeah, I know some people find baby-forms annoying, but they are really cute, and well, getting more Pokedex entries by breeding for baby forms isn't quite as boring as leveling up for evolved forms (still working on completing that Pokedex...).

I also don't mind that some old Pokemon got new evolutions. Sure, it's not as creative, but I still think it's interesting (and some Pokemon kinda NEEDED evolutions), though some of those evos are a bit... strange.

Edit: Hah, I remember how my Pokemon often had several attacks of the same type. Somehow I just didn't realize how unnecessary that was.

Doing that is exactly why I had problems with the Elite Four in all my games. So I stopped and used a fully-leveled and trained team and now THEY DON'T HAVE A CHANCE

My Typhlosion in SS kept letting me down - she had no resilience at all.

Even EV training didn't help the situation very much, it seemed like any kind of attack would KO her.
