I completely and totally support him becoming grass/steel!

Or even better, steel/steel!

Also, he's not gonna become Grass/Dragon. Aside from that it's a bit on the overpowered side, the fact that Sceptile, a dragon-like Pokemon, was pure grass proves this.

Well, if the water one became Water/Ice...
Speaking of a water/ice starter. Anyone else feel that Empoleon should have been water/ice instead of water/steel? It would make more sense considering what it is. Or did they don't do that due to it would have ice do x4.5 damage to Torterra?

I frankly don't care about starters vs starters

I care about starters vs THE REST OF THE GAME

Who gives a shit if they don't rock/paper/scissors each other, I rarely fight any other starters ever.

Gen 3/4 are where I lost interest. HG/SS has recaptured my interest. So I don't care about last generation

Also pro tip: HG/SS didn't have dual-typing starters either

Yeah... they're not going to make a Pokemon an ice type just because the animal it's based on lives in the Antartic.

Plus, I think they just really wanted to make a Water/Steel type!

Okay, considering that attacks do either x1/2, x1, or x2 damage against certain types...

...how the hell did you get x4.5 from it?!

Pro Tip: HG/SS is the only gen WITHOUT a dual-type starter.

Not all penguins live in the Antarctic.

There's a lot of different interpretations of Quetzalcoatl, I'm just suggesting it's a possibility for Tsutaja's evolution.

Grass and Ground are both weak to ice attacks. STAB damage x.5 damage.
x1/2 is not very effective against one resistance.
x1/4 is not very effective against two resistances.
x1, you are not getting any weaknesses or STAB damage.
x2 damage is when you hit one weakness without STAB damage.
x4 is when you hit two weaknesses without STAB damage.
x4.5 is two weaknesses with STAB damage.

If Empoleon was part ice and used an ice attack against Torterra, then it would receive x4.5 damage from the attack.
Here I'll even add Torterra's page from bulbpedia:

How on earth didn't you know about STAB and dual typing weaknesses?

Fun fact:
Did you know if the first generation, fire types received x1 damage from ice type attacks? This meant that if an ice attack was used on Charizard, it would be super effective due to it being part flying type.

Me: Ice types! Charizard GO!
Charizard: Rawr!
Jynx used ice beam!
It was super effective!
Charizard faints.
Me: What? T_T

I think the starters have a slight personality pattern

The cool looking one everyone wants
The cute looking one all the girls want
The average Joe everyone else gets.
