We will discuss how terrible heretics are.

Those two eps were pretty cool. Do you think that we're gonna get another two parter at the start of the third season, or do you think that they'll do a single episode since they went with a two parter for the season finale?

Is there going to be a third season, even?

The quality of the stories got better as season two went on, but I tend to feel that two seasons is the limit for a lot of cartoon shows these days.

MLP:FiM is linked to a franchise though - so a third season is not impossible.

I wouldn't mind them starting out with a two-parter again. I love the feeling of adventure those episodes usually give, and the villians that star in it are pretty cool.

And yes, there will be a season 3. It will only have 13 episodes for now, but I assume they'll probably expand that as time goes on.

I recall seeing that it was renewed for another 13 episodes for season 3, but only 13. Or did they get a full 26? I don't know. There's also been some trouble within the staffing. So, my bet would be on season 3 being the last.

I just saw the last two episodes of season two (the wedding episodes) - and I can't say that I thought they were all that amazing tbh.

The plot was too predictable, the villain was too one-dimensional and the peril seemed a little lacking.

Kind of disappointing on all counts.

Were you honestly expecting a fleshed out villain in FiM? When have they ever done that? Although, John de Lancie did say he recorded another episode a while back, so maybe Discord will get a little backstory. But you can't really blame them. You can only fit so much within 21/42 minutes. As for predictability, of course she was going to turn out to be evil, but to be THAT? Kind of caught me off guard.

Also, the aria was pretty daisies snazzy, despite the simplistic lyrics.

I suppose the story could've taken a different tangent - instead of Cadence's doppelgänger being a shapeshifter, the doppelgänger could have been another pony (in magical disguise) with some other reason for wanting to interfere with the wedding that dated back to Twilight and her brother's past - that scenario would've had more emotional weight and drama to it.

Tbh, this story didn't really create any emotional involvement/investment between me - the watcher - and with Cadence or Shining Armour - at no point did I really care a whole bunch if they got married or not.

The whole shapeshifter thing was generally a weak and poorly implemented plot device.

It wasn't poorly implemented! She needed the LOVE to take over Equestria so she could feed her species LOVE, but LOVE was actually her LOVE downfall in the LOVE.

But yeah I agree. It did feel pretty weak, especially after rewatching it, but maybe taking the villain in that direction would've taken up more time? How long would it have taken to establish that kind of backstory without feeling tacked on? I dunno. These episodes did feel like some sort crescendo though. More so than last season's "finale". That's something, right?

To bring in two characters like that (which have no preceding emotional ties or interest with the viewer) for something like a wedding is always going to be a long shot in keeping long-time followers happy - but I guess that's what is required to avoid upsetting the balance of the show too much for the next season (i.e. we can't have Rarity marry off to some guy because of this and that reason).

I think the song was better in the season one finale.

I think if that happened, we'd leave MLP territory and enter daytime soap opera territory.

These episodes were already well into that territory with the wedding theme and everything else going on.

Yeah, I noticed these two had a significantly more mature theme to them, and I really enjoyed that. It gave them a bit of suspense and drama.
Needless to say, I loved that hour regardless of how well done the climax was. (I agree that it seemed very rushed, but I just can't get over how great that duet was)

The duet was good musically. But during it I commented to my brother, "Wow! Good thing we have this to spell everything out!" Because...the lyrics weren't terribly great.(someone contact Lyra to correct this) Still loved it.

Speaking of that song, play these, be sure to mute the video and listen the music of the other
