No, it's just an advertisement exploiting popular culture to grab more viewers.

Everyone that already likes Futurama will still watch Futurama because it's Futurama, regardless of said devious marketing plot.

The most simple and efficient thing that they could have done instead of this Reddit shit is have Billy West say "I see what you did there... You made new episodes of Futurama!".
