Re: Movies
This new Spider-Man looks like someone is trying to combine Batman and Twilight
It isn't going to end well
It isn't going to end well

Re: Movies
Remember when Peter Parker was a dork and not a Pattenson wannabe?
Me neither.
Me neither.

I'll give you the hair, but...what?
I really, really don't get why I keep seeing people compare that trailer to Twilight.

Re: Movies
Because Twilight is popular and that's what everyone is going to compare everything to.
I couldn't really tell that it was very different from the first Spider-Man.

Pretty much this.Exeres wrote:Because Twilight is popular and that's what everyone is going to compare everything to.

Although it does look quite a bit darker, but in a Dark Knight way, so that's only an amazing thing.
there was no brooding at all in the trailer whatThe thing is, it's dark and Peter spends far too much time brooding
Re: Movies
I don't get where everyone is getting The Dark Knight comparisons from. Being darker than the first Raimi "Spider-man" doesn't necessarily equal "How about a magic trick?"

Re: Movies
well, i'm using "the dark knight" to pretty much describe the whole series.Firestorm wrote:I don't get where everyone is getting The Dark Knight comparisons from. Being darker than the first Raimi "Spider-man" doesn't necessarily equal "How about a magic trick?"
and batman begins was notably lighter than dark knight
and rises looks notably darker than dark knight
and it looks on about the same level as begins

Re: Movies
How about stop comparing it to other movies and actually talk about Spider-Man? For example, the trailer was boring as fuck until it went into first-person mode.
Re: Movies
Honestly, this doesn't look to be "Batman" to me.
This looks like "Superman Returns" to me. Andrew Garfield also looks like he's gonna have the same problems portraying Spider-man that Brandon Routh did portraying Superman in that movie, even moreso because Spider-man's character hinges on Peter Parker more than it does with a superhero identity like with Clark Kent/Superman. It's not like Bruce Wayne/Batman. It's just Peter. And this trailer hasn't really done a very good job to try and convince the viewers that he's Peter Parker.

Re: Movies
My biggest problem with Garfield from what I've seen is that it is painfully obvious that he was chosen because he is attractive, and then they put glasses on him and said "There. He's a nerdy Peter Parker, job done."

Re: Movies
Alright, let me explain.
Peter's parents disappear. His lack of parentage is brought up by a female love interest because Peter obviously shows resentment towards it. Considering the context of some scenes, it's likely that the villain of the movie is responsible for their death, and Peter will be motivated to heroism by their death. (NANANANANA BATMAAAAN)
Now, watch as Peter stares at his own reflection, bares his heart to the love interest, and waits in solemn silence wearing his costume contemplating the things that make him different. (Twilight)
