And you get punched in the noggin eventually leading to serious head trauma. Every time. Because it's part of the sport. As opposed to sometimes getting injured by pure accident in other sports.

Not every time, persistent injury rate for professional boxing seems to be about 20%. And professional athletes will get injured more than once during their career in any sport.

But that's still injuries caused by the main goal of the sport vs. injuries caused by accidents. I could also say that playing russian roulette only has a 16% chance of you getting injured.

50% chance of death actually. And putting a gun to your head isn't as much fun as fighting. No one is saying you have to like it, but you shouldn't judge people for how they choose to waste their lives.

Oh you're free to use your time as you like. But I think a school should think about what things they endorse and which they don't which was what started this here. And an institution that exists to make people smart endorsing sports that can cause lasting head injuries isn't a very smart thing. Like a church that finances a brothel. Or a vegetarian's club having a slaughterhouse.

A school doesn't make students smart. It offers knowledge for people to learn. And brain injuries aren't simple drops in IQ points, plus there's something to say for the old adage "mens sana in corpore sano".

A healthy mind lives in a healthy body? Stephen Hawking would disagree, but apart from that, getting hit in the face repeatedly is not my definition of healthy.

You could have worded that a little better, OA, but I agree, if you two want to continue, I'd rather you do it in all topics or fit and healthy.

Coming back to the discussion a few pages back, here's why people don't like Sohmer.

He has a slew of comics that precede every one of those where he makes it clear they are all not how the author or the character feels. They're usually part of a running gag. Except for the webcomics thing. That's pretty much his stance on the medium. It's pretty much Family Guy level humor.
