Can't amulets get damaged, like armor can? I don't think it actually cancels the enchantment in the games, but eh loopholes

Amulets do not get damaged in Oblivion, but lore-wise it's certainly possible to destroy enchanted items.

Just don't waste a perfectly good axe trying to destroy the high end stuff.

It could be that it ran out of soul... charge... stuff.

I can't remember how amulets worked in Oblivion but it could explain it.

Amulets and other enchanted items have a certain number of charges when their purpose has a measurable amount of uses. Silencing spells might be included in this, if it were an actual amulet in the game.

Constant effect items have no charge. This includes Silence.

I figured it only activates whenever she tries to use a spell, which is a definite action.

None of it matters anyway since it's not a real item.

Could be that's it's actually an Amulet of Drain Willpower or something, and that her skill level finally got high enough to overcome the drain effect.

Anvil's guildmaster explicitly said it was an Amulet of Silence.

When she takes it off she still as the magicka to cast spells. So it's definitely an Amulet of Silence.

Also, the only items that have charges are charged weapons, iirc, because those are the only items it's possible to activate. Everything else provides a passive bonus (or a passive debuff) of some sort that is permanent and unchanging.
