I don't get how Goblins has gotten so far to begin with. I've been reading it since the start and while it's a decent enough comic it's really nothing the special. I guess it's due to Thunt's extremely dedicated fanbase (see: Tempt's Fate) and that his blog post have the perfect tone and incencitive to motivate his readers to vote for him (in contrast to for example OotS, where I never even saw any notion of the competition.

Dedicated fanbase and Thunt bribing his fans at first. I don't want it to win because honestly this guy does not deserve the prize when he misses updates on a regular basis whereas I can't recall the last time Gunnerkrigg did.

Also OotS's guy didn't advertise it because last time he did for this contest his fanbase put him on top with no challengers. Same reason Hussie wanted people to vote for GC.
