Okay, I know I've already complained for AGES on it, but because it's reached a brand new low even worse than the time the author drew porn into it for no apparent reason: the latest XKCD.

Especially the hover-over-the-picture alt-text.

It's a decent joke, why the rage.

Because it's HIGHLY offensive! It's basically saying that entire societies are collectively dumber than a first-world two-year-old!
And had it been a joke about societies that don't have numerical systems, it'd be fine... but it's not. It's a joke about that primitive societies that do have numerical systems are just too stupid to know how to count higher than two!
Heck, when Discworld is parodying the jokes you make, you know you're doing something wrong!


A good few of you probably won't feel the same way, and that's fine, because I did say especially the alt-text, which is what EVERYONE is flaming over!

See, the alt-text is nothing but a big 'anyone who isn't a scientist is more worthless than a scientist'. I'm not kidding, he actually said anyone who hasn't "a real science degree [has] a lot of free time!"
You see the problem?
And that's not even getting into that he said "real science", which surprisingly enough isn't an actual category. He really means "whatever bloody science fields I like"!
...and it's hardly even related to the comic in question!

Oh.
And the best part?
He never got a job after he got his own (BSc Physics) degree! He went straight into making a living off of XKCD!

He was mocking anthropology scientist, not other scientific fields in general.

It's pretty well-writen, the characters endearing, and the plot, while a tad hard to follow, is overall a very good read.
