I made it to the flagship and couldn't get through its defenses because I had no missiles. My boarding party only managed to disable the weapons. Every other team I sent over died, leaving Liu Jun all by himself. Overcome with depression, he opened all the doors and let the vacuum of space take him away.

And then, two runs later:

If I'd remembered I had a transporter sooner, I could have disabled the multi-missile launcher and won. This was definitely the most well-armed Kestrel I've ever flown. On three jumps, I had a blue option to avoid confrontation by simply intimidating people with my weapons.

Man, this game... the other day I was kicking the hell out of a mercenary ship, it offered to surrender, their offer was kinda low, so I refused, since to this point it was no danger to me...

That seemed to trigger something, all of a sudden there are fires and breaches all around the ship, shields and engines are critical, O2 down, door systems down, scanners down, weapons mostly offline, I went from practically full health and dominating the fight to running around trying to repair and put out fires while they continued their barrage. There they sat with the 3 health I had them to, finishing me off.

Only time that has happened, what the hell? haha...

Despite getting to sector 8 twice before, this is the first time I fought the flagship, did really well at the start... didn't lose any hull after the initial hits.

I really should have focused on the drone area more at the start, probably could've won...

Hammered a ship with lasers until it surrendered, stuck around long enough to watch the fires put it out of its misery.

I'm like a gritty action hero over here.

So it turns out that the Mantis Cruiser B has a four man teleporter. Get yourself a total of four mantis men, and send over that boarding drone you start with...
Anything that doesn't have a super shield will go down before most of their weapons go off.

Unfortunately, those drones don't do anything against super shields, and since you start with no weapons it means you have to run from them every time until you do. This makes easy mode, which very few enemies have the shields, way more easy than normal, if for that reason alone.

Stealth Layout B is my favorite so far, usually one shotting most of the enemies in the first two sectors.

why is this thread dying? More people need to play this.

Played for about 12 hours so far. made it to the second form of the final boss. Lost because DRONES, DRONES EVERWHERE

I tried doing a run with the Halberd Beam.

It worked great for a while, but eventually the charge time made it impractical. Next time I get one, I'm probably gonna try and use some lasers, too.
