My grenade launcher didn't do shit against the death claws.
Pushy on the other hand wrecked their shit.

I don't know why the grenade launcher/rifle seems so weak. It barely does any damage, and there's never enough enemies in one place to make use of the splash damage.

Should I buy better ammo for it or something?
Also I got an Anti-Material rifle from one of the white legs.
This is why I don't buy guns!

There aren't any high-explosive 40mm grenades, not sure about 25mm.

There are some HE 25mm grenades. I use a clip fed 25mm grenade launcher from GRA and it's my main explosive weapon.

The Red Glare from Lonesome Road is the best explosive weapon I've got. Esther's actually the best, but mini-nukes are rather difficult to come by.
On that note, who's got two thumbs and is wearing Elite Riot Gear? This guy.

As for 40mm, You've got vanilla, patch of fire, plasma explosion, and my personal favorite 'Fuck you, Robot'
Mercenary's Grenade Rifle is good until you hit mid-level stuff, like Super Mutants and Nightstalkers, then you might need to upgrade to something a little more potent and... automatic. If you wanna trudge through deathclaws for it, your call.

I forgot about Thump Thump, I never got the Ant quest, now I have to search for whoever gives it to me, the air force base is so fucking big though.
Also I hope that Riot gear is better than t45-d armor, I'm getting tired of how heavy it is.

It has equivalent DT, but weighs half as much. Plus it looks more badass.

Trench coats make everything better, if only there was some trench coat power armor.

Keep an eye out for a building called Third Street Municipal. Make your way to the top floor and there it is. It's not even out of the way, which is weird considering it's one of the game's top-tier armors.
Whoops forgot to mention it's in Lonesome Road.

Also I got the Explorer perk while doing Honest Hearts.
It revealed my map, I hope it cleared up the Mojave as well or else I'm gunna be rustled.

Explorer shows you the entire map wherever you are. So yes, the Mojave will be revealed.
