dark sword

how can you even consider a single run where you pick that up a success, your character is gonna die anyway because of the pure cancer
What's wrong with the Dark Sword? :p

More on my sorcerer run. I actually started as Knight so I had less points in luck and started a bit more able to take hits.
I was overthinking about getting an Int weapon. I forgot Magic Weapon was a sorcery.
I guess I'm more of a battlemage than a sorcerer.

well to begin with, straight swords are kind of the meta. ATM, the faster you can swing, the better.

the dark sword has ludicrous damage, like absolutely stupid damage, with the swing speed of a straight sword.

all you have to do is spam R1 and you win fights. it's worse than katanas.

I'm certain if I just stood in front of bosses pressing R1 I'd get my face flat on the floor. :p Hell, there were regular enemies that smashed me into the floor when I went up and R1 spammed. Mostly Ultra Greatsword or Shielded enemies.
I don't have PS+ so no other players were on the receiving end of it.
Don't really see what's so wrong going into a game entirely single player mode and using the best weapon you can find.

It isn't so overpowered that you never die. I died a LOT still using it.

I'm an offline Souls player. I don't care about PvP meta, I just wanna fight bosses.

I decided to hop onto Dark Souls 1 and help a friend get through the Undead Burg. After getting to the Parish, I was about to set a new sign down when someone invaded me.

I haven't had a proper and true invasion in Dark Souls 1 before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. There was some glowing red ninja guy with a katana and a bunch of Pyromancy I never saw before (since I never invested into Pyromancy before). One of which, the ground erupted into twenty pillars of fire.

So, I thought I was going to get absolutely stomped by someone who max upgraded their everything while staying at a low level to invaded in the Burg region.

Next thing I know, he appeared behind me and stabbed me in the back for a whopping 90 damage. Out of my 700 HP.

... It was far less than I was expecting to take.

I spent the rest of the battle using the Shrug gesture and throwing basic Fireballs at him until his tiny HP pool drained.

I was expecting it to be more troublesome than that.
Don't blame me; I voted for Kodos.

I made a huge mistake.
i had Yoel give me 5 Dark Sigils because 'Why not? Free levels.' The Fire Keeper can heal them afterwards.

I go to Fire Keeper. "Requires 64578 Souls."

Heck.

Now I'm farming Souls on that darkwraith under Lothric Tower because with Shield of Want and Silver Ring I get 3300 Souls per kill. Plus it only takes 3 Great Heavy Soul Arrows to off him. And the first shot is a free hit.

36 minutes later.
Farmed up 64k Souls and now I'm not hollowed anymore. Amusingly didn't get one Dark Sword drop through all of that. :p

Look at this face.
Image

By design I had his right eye as completely white as possible so it looks like he only has use of one eye.
Then I covered it with hair.
"GENIUS!"

Edit: I just realised just how upset he looks.
I mean if I was in a world where everything wanted to kill me I'd be pretty sad too.

Edit: Freaking dammit.
I messed up again. Big NPC story spoiler.
I told Anri where Horace was without killing him.
After Anri didn't show up at Church of Yorshka I went back to where Horace was.

Anri lying dead on the floor and Horace still standing there.
I should've killed him dammit.

Edit:
Getting more sorceries. Aaaand they're weaker than what I was using. (Tested on the random enemies outside Firelink Shrine.)
Great Heavy Soul Arrow. Deals 544 damage for 14 FP.
Homing Soulmass. Deals 56 each orb for 20 FP.
Soul Spear. Deals piercing 566 for 40 FP.

In terms of efficiency GHSA is superior 1v1.

The fun part of sorcery is that I can still get more powerful than this. I could use Steady Chant, Magic Clutch Ring and my catalyst is only +3.

Edit: GHSA did 702 damage when I put on that ring and used Steady Chant. +3 Heretic Staff and 35 Intelligence. Both Sorcery rings on too.

I got a good catalyst and maxed it out. Sage's Crystal Staff +5

I have 41 Intelligence.
Steady Chant.
Great Heavy Soul Arrow on a Firelink Shrine enemy.
947 damage.
Geez.
702 without Chant.

Beat Champion Gundyr as a sorcerer! That was tough. He's unrelenting. Had to Summon the Sword Master NPC because Gundyr's buff phase is nearly impossible to get a spell out alone.

I hate the Untended Grave's Grave Keepers so much I hate hate hate hate hate they barely show up anywhere else and they fucking suck but here they always have dumb health and damage and I HATE

Champion Gundyr is hard as shit too, I just got there again on a second character, had gotten the shit kicked out of me beforehand and had like, three estus. Went in just so I could say I tried. Kicked his booty. I will never be able to replicate this.

Those Grave Keepers are butts.

I can hold myself well against ChampDyr with close combat.
It's when I have to try stay away and look for an opening that I find trouble.
Monster Hunter trained me in the ways of dodging ferocious large strikes. (Nargacugas, man.)

Also I FINALLY DID IT!
I beat Nameless King! Sorceries make it SO much more tolerable.

there's a scary man in front of every bonfire. put on your big boy pants, grab your sword, and go down there and fight him while crying and pissing yourself like a man.

Or do it the cheesy way.
Run past him. Open door. Spam roll. He's too big to get through the door. (How'd he get in there in the first place? Unless he did that Vordt entranceway thingy.)
Leave him or attack from a distance.

So it seems From forgot to enable player Poise when porting the engine from Bloodborne.

That would explain a lot.
