Pokemon, yes. SSB, no. You do realize that there have only been 3 SSB games in the last decade, right? Meaning, Nintendo isn't so quick to milk a franchise like that. Unlike CERTAIN game developers who will remain unnamed...gryewolf wrote:This is still very relevant.Xabyrn wrote:You do realize if they were EVER in financial danger, all they would have to do is release a new Cockfighting Society game and Smash Bros.

Re: As sales slip, Nintendo faces uncertain future
I think that another reason they don't want to release a new IP is because of the risk. If you try to do something new with a game and fall flat on your face, you're screwed because of all the cheddar you put into the game. Even a cheddar-printing company like Nintendo is aware that this could happen, so that's why they stick with the franchises they know and upgrading hardware rather than IPs.

Steel Diver was a tech demo for the original DS. So if you're a nitpicker, it's not an original IP.

Well when was the last time a new IP from Nintendo set the world on fire? Unless it has someone vaguely recognizable character casual gamers gloss over it. We may be more open minded, but the vast majority of Wii and DS don't really care what they're buying.

Yeah, rehashes aren't going to make them bankrupt - I've never believed that, but the recent focus on rehashes still annoys me to a degree.Paco wrote:So do I, but people are going to buy enhanced ports anyway, whether it's because of nostalgia, because of the popularity of the series/games, or because they never got to play them. Putting out rehashes isn't going to make Nintendo bankrupt is what I'm saying.DoNotDelete wrote:I expect a new game like Kid Icarus: Uprising to outsell a rehash like OoT 3D, and it will do better for the 3DS' overall sales.

Doesn't matter, I'll just adblock it again.

Wow really? You're adblocking a pony?

yeah it's so pathetic how he takes a few valuable seconds out of his life to click THREE WHOLE TIMES in order to block an image he doesn't like
infact I bet it could be done in under a second and solve his problem forever and improve his browsing experiance
what is the world coming to

I mean the taking offense at a pony image in the first place, and then feeling the need to tell me about it - like it's gonna hurt my feelings or something.
