I didn't spend weeks gathering materials and building a railroad to the main city, then terraform a massive 20 block high sand dune just so I could have the construction of my first building interrupted halfway through by the whims of people who want less stuff next to the default spawn area. The same thing could have been done by simply changing the spawn to a new, remote location and moving every player there. This shouldn't have happened at all, much less without pooling the opinions of everyone who would be affected by the change beforehand.
I was expecting you to feel exactly this way.

Same feelings here. Many buildings, hours of time invested, many WIPs, then woops let's all have a new world, everyone!

What was there to hate? Don't tell me it was too crowded. Saying a Minecraft map can get crowded is just baffling to me.

We also had 15 or so regulars. You have to stretch out far. It is not an okay reason to wipe everything while only telling a couple people it was happening.

I never said that was the reason it was wiped. Talk to noff about it

You might as well drop the idea of "combining" anything. I know enough about Java that I can see a way that it would be possible, but it would involve reading the data from both maps, and then overwriting a section of one with information from another. Sounds simple enough, but actually taking anything of substance from one map and bringing it onto the other would be nothing short of nightmarish, especially without an actual view of both maps present to help out. More importantly, the demand for such a function is too small to motivate anyone to make such an obscure tool to do it with. Noff probably wouldn't even import everything over if it did exist, simply because of how difficult and long it would take.

Then walk farther or teleport to coordinates that nobody could possibly have reached on foot. I had no problem finding room to build things despite joining the server so late. If anything, I'm getting the impression that you simply want less stuff around so yours can stand out more, and that's unbelievably selfish if it is the case.

No, that's a fucking stupid reason and I'm offended that you would think that. But seriously, there is no sense bickering between eachother as none of us can change a daisies thing, only Noff can.

A'ight.

I'm going to have my desktop back next week. I'm going to download this map editing program, and Noff is going to give me the two maps, and I'm going to see if I can cut out all the stuff from the first map and paste it a fair distance away from everything on the new map. I do not know how long this will take, because I have no experience with this program. There will be much trial and error.

This might not work out, but if it does, I'm hoping it will make everyone pop flyin'. Noff does not seem to want to comment on the matter, for whatever reason, so I hope this will suffice. Success or no, I'll at least try.

lol internet.

But really, the old map was lacking. I really disliked how I set it up, to me, the old map was really just a trial and error run. So I asked the proletariats and a few people who wouldn't flip the fuck out if they wanted to make a new map with changes on how things worked. The proletariats agreed that the map wasn't working out. I asked the skype channel and it was pretty much hum and ahhs. If I had asked the forum, the obvious answer would have been no.

The new map is also set up to accommodate how the plugins are set up now. I have been able to remove some plugins that will ease up on the server load. The biggest one was creeper damage protection, so I set up the new map that would only disable it in a certain area using the residence plugin. To do this one the old map, I would need to buy everyone's land, or only set the city safe from creeper explosions.

Yes, as said before, I disliked how people were not really building together, and just ran off to do their own thing. It really felt like just a singleplayer with a chat.

One of the biggest things that really upset me about the old map, was the use of exploits. using /back for usage other than to return to your corpse, abusing job pay, using /myspawn to go back to your spawn, using the rpg pvp to level your skills / steal other peoples items with disarm. You as a player may not seem to care about this, but as the person who set this up for people to have fun together, I felt like this was a huge disappointment that people would use these exploits to cheat at a simple building game. I set up the new map to fix these, so they will not be able to be exploited again.

What really gets to me though, is that people act like they have some sort of special privilege by playing on my server. I mean, I want you guys to have fun and enjoy the server, but some of you people treat me like a fucking dog or something. I'm trying my best to keep the server running so that everyone will enjoy it, but I cannot satisfy everyone.

Really, you guys haven't even looked at the new map have you? I like it, it's a great setup, I have fixed some of the flaws in the old world. I mean, the time spent whining on the forums you could have built something better by now, or at least started something. Like InsertFail said, when she gets her desktop I will send her the world files and she can mess around with McEdit to try and get some of your buildings back into the new world.

Chances of going back to the old world are really slim, it sucks, but people like this world, If you really don't like the way I administer the server, then why don't you start your own? If you can make a better server than mine, I will gladly shut mine off and let you take over.

I really like the new map actually. It's very interesting, and I could do better work here. As for working together on building things, that's something I enjoy doing. But.... why is everyone seemingly spawning somewhere different from everyone else? I need a way to get back to town, but I can't find it at all.

Did you set your own spawn to a bed yet?

Now, I'm not exactly familiar with AZ's Minecraft server, but I come offering a possible solution.

A server I played on was able to run two maps concurrently, setting up a user command through Bukkit (I believe) to switch between whichever map you wanted to be on. Perhaps you could look into that? I think it would make everyone pop flyin', or as close to pop flyin' as possible. I can contact the owner of the server that had that sometime to get details on how it works, if needed.

I heard about something similar. The one I know about is you use Nether portals to hop between maps. The big issue would be the lag of having two maps on the same server, plus people being on both.

Well then. I guess that's that. I guess I'm gonna rebuild the Arena then.

While building my submarine, I was blown up by a creeper. When I respawned, instead of respawning by my bed, I was respawned a few blocks underwater, surrounded by desert and a few dirt hills, and according to someone, not on the map of the kingdom.
