Re: Fire Emblem
The double post whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy~
I'm truly sorry but I need to get some of these weapon names out there.
- Shocking Spirit: Thunder. I wanted at least one of my magic weapons to be a "spirit". For some reason I find it a little funny.
- A WITCH!!!!: Broom. A reference to an episode of Animaniacs that I don't quite recall the name of.
- Stylestab: Iron Naginata. Only Oboro is allowed to use this one.
- Bambumi: Bamboo Yumi. I'm more proud of this than I should be.
- Shmebulok: Ragnarok. No explanation needed.
- Shpee's Yummy: Spy's Yumi. Sometimes I really wish units were shown to attack from the back.
- Bimbulblablam/Gabbubublebap: Fimbulvetr/Ginnugagap. I should stop.
- Parasling: Parasol. Bombardabrella's awkward cousin.
- Nehrian Blerd: Nohrian Blade. Have I mentioned this one yet?
- Waluigi: Wakizashi. Expecting a clever name? TOO BAD, WALUIGI TIME. (sorry)
- Bow Concerto: Violin Bow. Finally a name that isn't a reference or a personal joke or a pun!
- Danger Dinner: Felicia's Plate. Makes less sense because it's cold... but eh.
- It's a trap!!: Caltrop. I'm honestly sorry.
- Smiting Skillet: Frying Pan. I think I have a right to be proud of this one.
I really should stop...

Re: Fire Emblem
I feel like Fates put a lot less emphasis on the kids than Awakening did. Like bodaciously there's one line of dialogue that even explains why you suddenly have adult kids and they're not really relevant to the plot.

Re: Fire Emblem
I'm still playing Fates and still giving stupid names to all my weapons.
- Nagi-not-a (Steel Lance)
- Not quite right (Tomahawk) I'm, like, 80% sure the in-game tomahawk looks way different from real life ones.
- Buhzoikerz Acks (Berserker's Axe)
- Shoryuken (Iron Shuriken)
- Fudgin' Yummy (Steel Bow)
- Baby Bro (Mini Bow)
- Shmebulok (Ragnarok)
- Raider Book (Disrobing Gale)
There might have been some repeats, but oh well.
EDIT: Yes there are. Shmebulok is one. Oh well, that one's one of my all-time faves.
And now finally, my proudest naming achievement...

Odin would be proud. I think.

Re: Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem got a Direct today.
To be honest, I was not expecting a Fire Emblem Gaiden remake.

Re: Fire Emblem
All that stuff looks really cool. The free-roaming bit I admit I skipped over, but from what I saw it looked really innovative and cool.
For some reason I'm most excited for the mobile phone game and I don't know why. Maybe it's the fact that all these older FE characters that I don't know about I'll finally get to learn info on. And that they have voice acting. Voice acting's good, right?
I did also notice that only 3DS FE characters (and the new ones, of course) were shown in the cinematic for the aforementioned smartphone game. I'm not sure why I'm pointing that out, now that I'm typing it...

Re: Fire Emblem
Probably because they're the ones with high res models already made. Plus they're pretty recognisable and popular faces in a franchise brought back from the brink.

Re: Fire Emblem
I uninstalled it because promoting units is stupidly expensive and I don't want to play anymore.
Re: Fire Emblem
They want your moneeeeey!
Well it's still week one. Gacha games are usually pretty rough at the start, as they roll out features gradually. I've sent feedback thru the game's contact form saying that unit promotion was ridiculously expensive and politely suggesting that they'd better introduce new ways to get feathers soon; I invite y'all to do the same. DeNA is good (though idk if they're handling support of the game themselves or if it's Nintendo) so they'll pay attention to it for sure, especially right after launch. Getting orbs is already gonna be annoying once we finish the story maps, so they really don't need to make resource-gathering too much of a pain.
At least you can get badges from the training tower, and the Arena thing doesn't use stamina and gets you some feathers regularly as well, but like… You shouldn't have to wait over a month just to promote one 4* unit to 5*. And one month is being optimistic, with what we've currently seen most people who don't wanna grind like crazy would probably need about 2 months to promote to 5*.
I'm confident they'll introduce new way to get feathers, whether it be a weekly event or the as-of-yet locked fifth game mode. But if they don't, yeah, I'll proooobably drop it as well. I don't need another Puzzle and Dragon to make my life miserable with hard-to-upgrade units.

Re: Fire Emblem
We're getting 10K feathers as part of a twitter promotion challenge that was fulfilled in 17 minutes. Plus dataminers have found that more content is likely to drop around RUCKY day and be significant. These games like to be fairly generous with content to not burn out users, but frustrating enough to try to blue ball you when you are so close to getting something.
Promotion is expensive but I'm not sure even with feedback it'll change. The point is to bind players to the game to grind it out, which potentially means buying orbs to summon better teams for the arena or to get your dueling swords replenished. Or roll for a higher rank version if available. Some gacha games don't even allow you to rank up your units or doing so still makes them inherently inferior to try to force people to reroll using cheddar.
Badges are more frustrating than anything though. I barely managed to get a set for each color this weekend just to prepare for getting feathers in the future, and now at least for me, the training area offers no rewards of badges today. Or any rewards period. Which I think is pretty bullshit for a game wanting us to build up inventory if they don't give us opportunity to.

Re: Fire Emblem
So how's everyone enjoying Echoes? Currently, I'm enjoying it much more than Fates.

Re: Fire Emblem
I think the level of immersion is much better. And not just because of the nigh-100% voice acting (which I absolutely adore, by the way). I kind of miss the pair-up mechanic, though, but now that support bonuses aren't limited to adjacent units I find it a fair trade-off. The story's a noticeable step up as well, so far.
If I had to name a complaint... I wish the game explained how enemy witches warping worked. Goodness I've been caught really off guard by it because I don't know what NOT to do.
Also 80% of the crit quotes are downright horrible and I'm legitimately mad about it.
So far my favorite characters are Gray and Leon; Gray's hilarious and Leon's fabulous, I love 'em both.

Re: Fire Emblem
So, what class did you made your villagers?
I made Gray into a mercenary, Tobin into a soldier and Kliff into a mage. Faye, however, I initially made her a pegasus knight, but after seeing her cleric spell list, I had to use a pitchfork to turn her back into a villager and then, into a cleric.
