Re: Fantasies of the Final variety
I heard the "HA HA HA HA HA" was really more the stupidity of the directors and not the voice actor's fault.

That's because it was, in that scene the laughing was meant to be forced because Yuna was all, whenever I feel sad, I laugh, and so they force a laugh.Game Angel wrote:I heard the "HA HA HA HA HA" was really more the stupidity of the directors and not the voice actor's fault.
Most people who play, they either enjoy Blitzball or they don't. If you unlock the Jecht shot, you usually enjoy it more.Game Angel wrote:except for the whole forced laugh scene it was pretty solid
But then again I don't actually own FFX and I never got past the first blitzball game.

Re: Fantasies of the Final variety
12 wasn't a good FF game.
It was too easy.
Most of the characters were horrible and had nothing about them you didn't know immediately.
Balthier was the only good character, and he's overused as cameos already.
The battle system was horrible.
On one occasion I paused the game to make a sandwich right before a fight with a really hard hunt boss.
I make the sandwich, get chips and soda, come back and find out I didn't actually pause and came back to a CONGRATULATIONS screen.
Plus Vaan was the worst Main character in FF history.

IX. My first Final fantasy game. I absolutely LOVED this game. Still do.. Shame I don't have a PS3, or I would download this so quickly. The story is amazing, if underdeveloped for Zidane. Vivi is and always will be my favourite FF character.
IV. My second final fantasy game. In my opinion, the epitome of an "average" final fantasy game. it's definitely good... but it's just Final Fantasy. nothing special.
V. I love. Love. LOVE. Jobs. The constant name swapping due to idiot american translators is annoying, but this needs a built up ds rem-Hell, screw that. IX needs a 3DS remake.
X. Played, it, loved it. Tied for first with best story, but the gameplay drops it below IX, In my... admittedly humble... opinion.
XII. Interesting, if slow story. Never finished it, because I was little and didn't understand things. Definitely the slowest paced mainline final fantasy. I need to replay this, although from what I've seen the battle system is "set gambits wait." haven't finished.
XIII...ugh.. The audio and TOTAL linearity threw me off. The music is definitely low. I did enjoy the story, but the infamous ten hour tutorial subtracts from it. This is one of the better battle systems though, once you truly grasp it. Still prefer IX's though.
Tactics. I played it and finished it. original PSX version. loved it.
Tactics A. ... The judges punishments were too harsh. I ragequit and never finished after one battle when I had a whole bunch of physical tank characters, and like, two mages, all set up to absorb damage and nuke them, when suddenly it goes all. "Woops no magic allowed screw you."
Tactics A2. I loved A2, due to it lowering the punishments the judge gave.

Re: Fantasies of the Final variety
Only Final Fantasy games I've played (Note, I say played.):
FFVII: I don't have time anymore to pick them back up. In FFVII, I'm right before the part where we have to kill Sephiroth, and I know I'm gonna end up trudging down the mountain attacking every single monster, because I ran away from them before just to get to the end.
Crisis Core: I don't wanna see him die, but I'll probably start a new game when I pick it up again. Did they ever mention what happens to the Turk girl? I never saw her in FFVII, but it's probably best for me to replay the game..
FFVIII: I got really bored during the first parts, and again, no time for it. But, the main guy (I haven't even a clue of his name) does seem really moody.
I think I remember reading somewhere that Final Fantasy is based off of real life? And I could believe that.. Like in one of their movies, I thought the desise killing people could be represented as cancer in real life. Mako energy = Oil. Monsters killing everyone = People who make bad choices themselves?

Re: Fantasies of the Final variety
So, this weekend I gave in and went out and bought FF VII and a PS1 to play it on for about $50 total.
So far (Just met Aeris), I'm surprisingly impressed. Despite the graphics, it has a pretty engaging story.
Then again, the only other Final Fantasies I've played are the original and XIII, so I don't have much to compare it to.
