It also started life as an N64 game that didn't get released stateside during it's original release because it was so fucking weird.

Wasn't it a disc drive game? It's all coming back to me now.

Actually, I think it was going to be an N64 game, but it got shifted over because the GCN was so far into development. Not sure.
Re: Great games that just didnt receive enough attention
Someone probably already said it, but for the love of god, Boktai.
At the very LEAST go play Lunar Knights for the DS. The series needs some daisies love.

Lunar Knights is like, fun, but it's not Boktai-levels of fun for sure (even though it's technically the same series)

Re: Great games that just didnt receive enough attention
Lunar Knights gets really hard out of nowhere at the end for no real reason. It gets really grindy and I never had the time to do the grinding so I always stopped at the end. I kinda want to pick up the old Boktais eventually, though.
Re: Great games that just didnt receive enough attention
So, hey, um, guys
Is it ok if I preform a little bit of:

Cuz I got a gud game to talk about

Zoids: Battle Legends is a mech fighter which pits two zoids (Four if your playing in Arcade Mode, or a whole fuckton in Story Mode) against each other in a fight to death. The selection of Zoids ranges from a Robot Turtle to Mecha Godzilla. You can also customize these Zoids in Arcade Mode (And you can use your customized Zoids in VS)
Now, this is one of my favorite games, ever, but I will admit there are criticisms to be leveled at it. The camera isn't always too helpful (Although I really only found it a problem on one map), the bosses in the Arcade mode are shit (Looking at you, scorpion thing, I forget it's name), and the controls take some getting used to)
But I'll be dammed if it isn't fun as hell. Each Zoid has it's own unique playstyle, ranging from the Melee-Oriented Liger Zero, to the Long range Gun Sniper (Who is the only reason I would ever play Metropolitan Area, the map I was talking about earlier), and their all fun to use and play around with. You can lock on to opponents with the R Trigger, and unlock with the L Trigger. Combat consists of using Lasers, Missles, and comically large Gatling Guns (Referring to the one you can place on the Command Wolf). Oh, and Melee Combat, which is done by repeatedly pressing X. It's faster than most Mech Shooters (From my limited experience with them) and I find it quite fun. You have plenty of options available to you, including a special ability activated using Z which is bodaciously called "Option" and you also have dodging.
Graphically, the Zoids look great, and everything else looks pretty mediocre. Audio wise, the soundtrack is great (With one song being particularly memorable), but the voice acting falls flat because all the characters only have a few lines of dialog they spout during combat or when they win.
Now, I'll go on record and say this. This game might actually be shit, and it may be that because I kinda grew up with this game, I'm blinded by nostalgia. There are a lot of critcisms that can be thrown at it, so, if you really want to know if this a hidden gem, just, go play it. I love it, maybe you will, or maybe I'm a nostalgia blinded fuck who clings to this game like it was his Girlfriend. Go fucking play it.

Yo, that sounds a little like the more recent Gundam Vs. games. If you're familiar with Zoids, you gotta know Gundam. Check that shit out.

I feel like fire emblem sacred stones didn't get as much hype as the first western release got. I loved sacred stones to death though. Never played the first one (to come to the west), hopefully they put it on virtual console soon.

Re: Great games that just didnt receive enough attention

I just remembered this game today and now I have the biggest urge to play it. I'll be digging it out after I post this (also dammit ATLUS you will never leave me alone). I have never heard anyone ever talk about this game or any of the Shining series really from what I can remember. Maybe Shining Force, but that's about it. I loved this game has a kid and it had a sequel, which was better even better in my opinion. It's a dungeon crawl action-role playing rpg. Pretty fun and gets pretty difficult toward the end. Used copies are pretty cheap on amazon (about 15 USD).

The previous one was okay but Sacred Stones was just a ton more enjoyable. Thankfully 3DS ambassadors can still enjoy it.Shoolis wrote:I feel like fire emblem sacred stones didn't get as much hype as the first western release got. I loved sacred stones to death though. Ah yes, all 10 3ds ambassadors
Re: Great games that just didnt receive enough attention
Mmmm Sacred Stones.
I've been doing 'true' runs - if someone dies, I don't restart for them. I just keep pushing.
Permadeath actually meaning someone dies. What a concept!

THE LAST REMNANT
I DON'T CARE THAT THE XBOX 360 VERSION OF THIS GAME WAS BUGGY AS SHIT
IT WAS A AWESOME GAME
Like no seriously the plot was imho fantastic, the battle system was fun. Not to mention all the pretty fucking scenery.
I will defend this game to my death, it was a amazing jrpg and it doesn't get the praise it deserves.
