If you've still got cash to spare, I am still looking for somebody to buy it for me and have me pay them back later.

Dead Island isn't worth its price even here where it costs roughly $30.
And $60 for this game is an insult to common sense.

No, it's only recently so. Stuff in Steam is much cheaper and is priced in local currency, BUT - some stuff is becoming unavailable for my region because of this.
Well, even before that there was a lot of stuff blocked (like Max Payne and GTA Classic Pack), but now there's even more. Most noticeably - Bethesda games, and that includes id software too. So no latest Fallout NV DLC for me, no RAGE for me (although judging by the reviews - not a big loss), and so on. I'm glad I've bought most of Bethesda's and id games beforehand.

Wow, that really blows.
What country are you in?
Also people here seem to be really good about gifting games in exchange for cheddar over Paypal, so you could try working that out. I can't speak for the reliability since I've never done it, but I've never seen anyone get scammed.

And I've searched for a way to acquire Max Payne and classic GTAs since it first went on sale on a Rockstar Week in Steam and I realised I couldn't buy anything.
Now it's not so urgent, but when the Winter Sale comes OMGWTFBBQ IMA SPEND ALL MY cheddar

Ehm, well, you get it.

Well, mostly it does. It did before that, too.
Still, the lower prices are nice.
How much did Plants&Zombies cost, $10? I almost bought it the day before this switch to local currency. Now it's $2. And Binding of Isaac - what's it, $10 too? $3 for me.
Might be a catch there - a region lock or something that would prevent people from constantly gift cheaper games to people abroad. Not sure about that, though.

plants vs zombies is $10, isaac's only $5 though. here anyway.

and I don't think games gifted from across countries have a region lock, since I hear about people gifting between countries for various reasons pretty often.
