The Legend of Zelda
Re: The Legend of Zelda
For real I'm very fond of the series as a whole, but I agree. I played Skyward Sword and really didn't care for it all that much, so I would put it below plenty of games that aren't Zelda games.
Or, y'know, whatever.

I'm going to get traded so I can evolve into a Machamp so I have enough arms to punch all of you!!!!...
...But yeah, a slight exaggeration. I've never played a Zelda game I've regretted. That being said, I've never tried the stuff that came out for the CD-I. I have seen plenty of things that could use improvement, but Nintendo won't take my emails and they've started shooting down my carrier pigeons.
I imagine they are stuck in a constant battle between changing a lot and keeping it the same. Old setting, new/old graphics, new gimmick. Everyone dissed them for Windwaker, and then dissed them for TP. They tried a middle ground with Skyward Sword. The graphics there didn't get too much hate. Maybe they're trying to replicate that success.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II had beautiful music and great atmosphere. I do kind of wish they'd bring back some features from it. Namely stat spells and leveling up. That being said it's a shock to the system to see an official Zelda game like that for most people, but that game is an integral part of my childhood. It was the first Zelda I ever played, one of the first images burned into my retinas before I could even play a videogame with any sort of competence. Clearly, Nintendo was still trying to figure out what had made the first one so successful and kind of missed the mark. But the evolution is amazing. Stop and consider that they stepped out of bounds with the second game and the the third game was LttP. Boom, hit that stride like a disobedient dog.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I have two Zelda's I regret playing:
Zelda II for obvious reasons
And Majora's Mask. *hides from all the fanboys throwing shoes and chairs*
Reason for MM: Time limit. I don't mind if a game has a few small parts where you have to do something against the clock, but NOT if that clock is constantly ticking through the entire game. (that's why I also just couldn't play Pandora's Tower)
Also, am I the only one in here who thinks Wind Waker is the best of 'm all and that sailing was actually fun?

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I feel like Im a hardcore Zelda fan now.
I cant really hate many of the titles at all. Nor can I really pick a favorite. Each game had something I liked about it. Wind Wakers graphics were beautiful, Twilight Princess had that kickass Bow and Arrow that I loved, and Hidden Valley and Mr Dude on a Boar. Skyward Sword had lip collagen and thanking Hylia that Fi was never going to wake up out of my blade. Also Ghirahim, who is the gayest (and awesome at that as well XD) villain ever. The plot was like Lovecraft meets Zelda, with Domos ugly cousin playing Cthulu XD
Majoras Mask was bleeding creepy and had a sense of depression I loved. Link to the Past was long man. Sometimes, it feels good to just play a nice long adventure, with collectables on the way
Ocarina of Time was difficult (Which I definitely dont denounce as terrible) and The Oracle Games became an amazing and epic adventure with not one but THREE final bosses that werent final bosses! (Seriously 16 Dungeons + Thats one hell of an adventure in Classic 2D!) And even if I may not like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks for being late game (Read historically not released) flicks, I dont particularly hate them either. Ive even played the Original Zelda and Zelda 2, and its always nice to see Hyrule transformed to its early days.
So yeah, hard time to pick a favorite: I really like playing them all XD

WHERE IS THIS MERLIN I KEEP HEARING OF
What harm could come from imprisoning a hellinternet beast every night and making it hate humanity and what it stands for?
Then we can release it back into the wild.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
My main gripe with Majora's Mask was that for some reason it kept crashing - so I gave up on it (it was on Virtual Console or something) - but I didn't really get into it the same way I did OoT anyway - I was never really a fan of the time limit concept tbh.
OoT was my first Zelda game so I think that kind of set the expectations for me - though I liked Twilight Princess a lot too and I really rate Link's Awakening DX as well.
Skyward Sword I can't be arsed to finish - and Wind Waker didn't really do it for me either; I guess the style put me off quite a bit, but I'm not sure about that really. Both these games I played nearly to completion only to lose interest in the final quarter of the game.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I'm not seeing why people don't like this game so much, I for one am really excited to try this game out.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
It's like with pokemon, genwunners. People with nostalgia goggles who think OoT is the best game ever and all the rest cannot compare to it. Sure, in 1997 maybe. But not today.
(Well, even in 1997 there already was a better Zelda imo: ALttP)

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I didn't get into Zelda until shortly after WW came out so I don't really have much nostalgia towards this series

Why would people with nostalgia goggles dislike a sequel to an older game?Aerival wrote:It's like with pokemon, genwunners. People with nostalgia goggles who think OoT is the best game ever and all the rest cannot compare to it. Sure, in 1997 maybe. But not today.
