I have vague memories of palying the original Zelda as a kid, but it wasnt mine. The first Zelda I actually OWNED was Links Awakening, which I maintain is one of the best ones

I have played a ton of zeldas, but only beaten phantom hourglass.

IMHO, that is one of the better zelda games.

First one I played was Majora's Mask.

First one I finished was The Wind Waker.

I've never played Majora's Mask again. I mean, I never had a 64, but still...

First I played was Legend of Link I think? at a friend's house. The first I owned/beat was Ocarina of Time. The WindWaker, than Majora, then Twilight Princess etc etc after that it climbed chronologically haha

i never liked the NES/SNES games. i typically don't like top-down sprite games in general and i can't really tell you why. just something about them. but i always found the NES/SNES zeldas way too hard and annoying so i never really bothered with them.

You have terrible taste if you rank that higher than the perfection that is ALttP.

ALttP is good, but I rank both Awakening, Ocarina and Majora higher than it.

I don't mean anything by "scrubs" except Deku Scrubs.

Quoting because vanilla Zelda was my first Zelda game, and ALttP is my favorite.

And I recall reading in a nintendo power magazine that they ranked which Zeldas were better in their eyes, and #1 was Link to the Past due to it adding in so much stuff that has become standard for the entire Zelda franchise.

BTW scrubs, if you haven't yet, you NEED to play Link to the Past immediently.

There really is no excuse to playing it. You might feel the need to grab a guide for it since it has some annoying parts that you wouldn't know because it's not obvious (and there are two instances of DRM in the game where they had a hint book with the game that gave you a solution to a puzzle that was really out of left field for a lot of people), but really, as long as you play it, just man. It's the perfect example of what makes Zelda great, and I've yet to really meet anyone who had a major problem with it besides "I like newer Zeldas better".

Still prefer Twilight Princess and ALttP.

I've noticed that with Skyward Sword that at first everyone was like "OMG BEST ZELDA EVARRR!!!211!!" and after a while everyone pretty much was "yeah it was kinda terrible and not that great..."
I've yet to actually play it so I can't actually give opinions about it.

There were people who said the former that weren't drowned out by the fandom?

The game pretty much immediately went from bitching about review scores being too low to bitching about the game ruining the series because of the plot and "waggle".

It won't be appreciated until the next Zelda comes out. Then it'll be the best Zelda since OoT.
