Wow the Master Quest in OoT is harder than I was expecting.
I'm just gonna
set this aside
and never touch it ever

This was released in Europe. I spotted it in the shops. Children everywhere crying. I wish it was a joke.BeatBoxingBoo wrote:I'm... pretty sure that page is a joke.
No, wait, ignore that.

I've seen screenshots of that game.
It's pretty, uh, flamboyant, I guess you could say?

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Yeah, Miyamoto couldn't give 2 fucks about his rep and churned out 3 obscure games for cheddar.
..Sounds kinda familiar.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I don't think obscure games that have no demographic in the West are going to make hm much cheddar.

WHERE IS THIS MERLIN I KEEP HEARING OF
What harm could come from imprisoning a hellinternet beast every night and making it hate humanity and what it stands for?
Then we can release it back into the wild.

Still, dont you wish they would start doing this instead? Funny thing cheddar, I remember they were doing a bit better when they had less of it and some developers doing a bit more.Ame no Akai wrote:Dzelda, I mean no offense, but that's the most naive comment I've heard in a while. It's an industry. People need cheddar. If fun were the one and only thing that mattered, everyone would be making free indie games.
What I'm saying is, these people need to make cheddar off games. The current industry might be going over the top, but the core concept is not negative in the least.

this has almost never been true ever, and when it is, it's only better because the people making it wanted more cheddarKitsune Dzelda wrote:I remember they were doing a bit better when they had less of it

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Exactly. It's easy to criticize a company for making "poor choices" when they're prosperous because they're "just in it for the cheddar" and claim things were better because "back in the day" people worked on games for the art of it, for fun, or some pure motive.
It's all nostalgia goggles. Nintendo is the same company it was back in the 80's, 90's and 00's. Assuming they had "better moral scruples" back in the day is pretty naive.
As for the Tingle games, they were made entirely because Japanese fans WANTED a Tingle game, since he was a very popular character over there. They're not considered Canon to the Zelda series and were just a way to play with the concept of what Tingle would do if he had his own game. I'm actually surprised the game came out in Europe, since he's pretty hit or miss for appeal over there. Even more surprisingly, I didn't get why Operation Rainfall last year acted like not bringing Tingle's game to America was proof that NoA was trying to keep good games from us.
To put this in perspective, a good number of Japanese fans are STILL upset that Tingle was axed from Twilight Princess in order to cater the the hardcore American (and sorta European) loathing Tingle has.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Yeah, the general reaction I'm seeing here is good enough proof that they made the right choice. We see a Tingle game and think "wow what the fuck that's stupid, what's your deal Nintendo?"
Looks like we've figured out why it didn't come out over here.
Now, I'm not blaming anyone - I don't like Tingle much myself - I'm just saying that it's silly to call Nintendo out on bullshit when that bullshit is just making a game that appeals to a Japanese audience. I don't know if you've noticed, but Nintendo is kind of centered in Japan?

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Yeah I sort of personally hate Tingle with all my heart. I mean the game sounds fun, but fucking what game has he not been a total booty in?
Re: The Legend of Zelda
You guys mustn't forget that a company isn't a single person. Most of the art people and such are very passionate about what they do and pour their hearth in souls in all of their work. They don't make the business decisions though.
