Kinda late but I honestly didn't like Count Bleck. In fact, I really didn't like Super Paper Mario at all; I loved its predecessor to death, but its sequel just never really struck with me. I'm replaying it right now but if anything I'm playing it more to remember the story than to actually enjoy it I suppose. Mr. L, however, is the best daisies villain ever.

Skyward Sword just has a really underdeveloped cast if you ask me. I love Fi, but I was really disappointed to find out that she really had no significance despite her potential. When I first saw the gameplay demo of the first battle with Ghirahim, I thought he was looking for Fi as a way to get the Master Sword, not Zelda. I'm really glad they brought back the Sheikah though, although when I found out that the old woman at the Sealed Grounds is really Impa, I kinda got disappointed that there weren't more Sheikah. As far as Zelda villains go though, I would love to see Dark Link be put in a bigger role. Just a boss battle was cool but seeing him as an actual big-time villain would really be sick.

Also I hate timing things too (hence why I never finished Majora's Mask) but I have to say I enjoyed the Silent Realms. They were a bit discouraging at first but I felt as long as you essentially went around in a circle to get all the tears it's really not that hard to run out of time. At least in some areas.

Yeah all of the Silent Realms terrified me too. But they were an interesting challenge and really demonstrated the movement/stamina system well. Just fuck the Eldin Volcano test though
please stop that right now

It's

So

LONG

Everything is scattered everywhere and there are tears at the top of the volcano during that slide down the two tunnels and there's water everywhere and you have to time it absolutely perfect to get them all.

And yet I love it

Yeah I had to go huge periods of time with guardians chasing me errywhere. It's just way too large of an area to cover and all the sand-slides can ruin you.

Honestly Lanayru and Skyloft were more annoying because of how many of those watcher things there were. The latter, especially.

Also, was I the only one who though The Imprisoned was freaking adorable the first time you fought him? What with those stubby legs and whatnot

So, basically what he said in his video review, but with 100% fewer jokes and 50% more whining. Good god, I'm starting to sound like Fi.
I think I've figured out what it is that bugs me so much about his review. It's not the fact that I don't think he was the least bit funny, it's not that he's letting the same flaws that bug all the people who still love the game(but can look past said flaws) completely ruin it for him, it's not that he completely disregards the story(as well as other positive aspects).

It's that now I can't play Skyward Sword without hearing him bitching in the back of my mind! GET OUT OF MY HEEEEAAAAD

Peahats. Pffft yeah. Kinda sad, considering how cool they look, and that one was guarding a Piece of Heart in Majora's Mask. But god, those tiny Peahats they spawn in Ocarina when you hit them at night scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

It's really not all that bad. Now Jabu-Jabu's Belly from Oracle of Ages? That is torture. It's like someone repeatedly snapping a GBASP closed on my balls.

I really don't know why he even bothered.

My beef with his review was that it was just horribly unfunny. Had this been the first time he bitched about Motion controls, fetch quests, or the Zelda formula, perhaps it would have been better. However, after hearing this same argument from him so many daisies times, it's gotten boring and predictable. Even before Skyward Sword came out I knew he was going to bitch about those 3 points, because they're some of his most used fall back points to complain about.

But it's not even that. I wouldn't even mind if he bitched about those things in every single review he made. The problem is that he doesn't invest the effort to make those arguments seem new, or approach them in a new and actually funny way. He uses those arguments and the resulting jokes as a crutch, just the same as the Zelda series sticks to its gameplay formula.

If he was an actual reviewer, then his consistency would be praiseworthy. But the reason people watch his reviews isn't to determine whether they're going to buy a game or not. Yahtzee will be the first person to call anyone who uses his reviews as a deciding factor for a game purchase an idiot. His appeal is trashing the crap out of a game. He's the roastmaster of gaming. He's there to tease the crap out of any negative aspect of a game. However, an effective roastmaster is one that doesn't go for the obvious jokes. You wouldn't enjoy hearing jokes you've heard a million times coming from a comedian ("So how about that airline food?"). Likewise, If a comedian were to rely on one joke, type of joke, or gimmick (bitching about their spouse, complaining about how the world has turned to shit, smashing a watermelon, etc.), they quickly stop being funny once you begin to predict what they're going to do and the novelty begins to wear off.

So for me, I care about the fact that he's fallen into the pit of unoriginality. This is the man who compared the difficulty of a final boss to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man's dick when he sees his naked grandma. Where is that man now? Where are the out of nowhere complaints and quips that he's memorable for?

TL;DR: He should be able to do better. He fell into this slump last year and started pulling himself out this year, and I really don't want to see him fall back into that again. He's better than that.

And plus, responding to the outcry is pointless. The vast majority of people complaining are not going to be convinced otherwise by this follow-up. The fact that he feels the need to defend his opinion is troublesome, and if he wants to respond to the few people that found this review unfunny, he just needs to show he can do better by working harder on his upcoming reviews.
