Is it bad that I want to get Lanayru's song first just to see what happens? There's the downloadable patch in the shop channel, so it'll work out alright in the end. I just want to know how badly Nintendo fucked up.

The glitch only happens if you talk to the goron that leads you to lanayru after you get his song. I did him last though.

Some people are good at them, some people aren't. I'm not bad at them, but I don't give them 100% of my effort, because they're scarier that way, and I like horror. The Silent Realm has replaced the Shadow Temple as the most disturbing thing in the series.

I don't like the silent realms because of those dumb little seekers with their lanterns.

Good god, how could I forget about them? Well, actually, ReDeads haven't been scary since Twilight Princess, where Nintendo gave them giant swords, and Gibdos haven't shown up since Minish Cap. But yeah, they may be creepier. Freaking rapist zombies...

Redeads and the Silent Realm are legitimately scary because they actually affect the player. Being frozen and unable to help yourself is scary as fuck. The Silent Realm presents a situation where you are helpless and one hit will undo all of your work, something that is never present in the series, or at least in the same way.

The Shadow Temple is "QQ there's blood :(((("

Being frozen and unable to help yourself while being raped by a mummified anorexic corpse with a wooden face is scary as fuck. The Silent Realm is scary because not only are you helpless and not only can you be killed in one hit, but the atmosphere has something to do with it too. The music is unsettling, and when the guardians chase you, everything goes all Silent Hill and the music goes from unsettling to terrifying. The guardians, awesome as they are, are scary in and of themselves, with their bizarre designs, faceless heads, and floating scythes. The Silent Realms instill a feeling of dread with how one ghost seeing you, one drop of water touching you, or even just going ninety seconds without collecting a tear can alert the guardians to your location. The Shadow Temple and the Bottom of the Well are atmospherically scary. The Bottom of the Well causes players to panic from traps being invisible until you get the lens of truth, which, need I remind you, is guarded by a Dead Hand. One of the invisible pits drops you into a pool of acid surrounded by ReDeads, and skeletal hands reach out of the acid as if to say "save us!" The Shadow Temple, once again, has countless invisible traps and a Dead Hand, and the walls present you with dark, morbid information you may have been better off not knowing. A room late in the dungeon is a torture chamber containing an invisible Floormaster, and the Saint Andrew's Cross in the middle of the room has a pool of red blood beneath it. May I remind you that blood dries and turns brown after a short amount of time, so that would mean that this blood is fresh. The Shadow Temple isn't quite as unused as it may look, as there is clear evidence that someone is still being tortured in its depths. The music that plays in the temple consists of ominous drums and a choir that I always thought sounded like it was being held at gunpoint. As if that wasn't enough, if you listen closely, you can hear people screaming in agony. It doesn't help that this was the first thing I ever saw in a Zelda game, so maybe it's just me, but this place also has a "childhood fear" thing going for it.

I had a lot of fun with those.

I didn't think they were particularly frightening...I think I could say more that they feel stressful. It was one of the only times in the game I felt like my actions had immediate consequences. Once the guardians catch on to you you just have to run like your booty is on fire, as opposed to most Zelda challenges where you can go off to cut grass while Zelda is in Ganon's clutches.
