I really would have liked to have seen that. Dark Link does need more development.Coriserai wrote:I was actually a member of a development team for a Zelda fangame that featured a co-op system between Link and Shadow. Shadow wanted to work with Link to get revenge on Ganondorf, so they switched places on the overworld and each had unique abilities to move around. Shadow got some serious development during the course of the game.
Sadly, the game fell through because people stopped contributing, but it was cool while it lasted.
Yeah, Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass are the two games I haven't found myself wanting to play over and over. They both have their moments; I love Twilight Princess' story, and Midna and Linebeck are both terrific characters. But the major problem I have with Twilight Princess is how little the world is developed. Look at Ocarina of Time. So many races were introduced, and with the exception of the Sheikah, who are supposed to be mysterious, all of them were really well-developed. Twilight Princess introduced three new races, and the one that's developed the most is the Twili, who are ironically supposed to be really dark and mysterious. And don't say that since OoT is so early, it has to have a ton of development for what it introduces, and later games don't need to do that, because that's bullshit. Wind Waker introduced and developed the Rito and the Koroks, and Minish Cap introduced and developed the Minish and the Wind Tribe. Yes, I realize that Spirit Tracks didn't even have any new races, unless you count the Lokomos, but the Lokomos are supposed to be mysterious, and Spirit Tracks doesn't try introducing a bunch of new races and not developing them. That's like giving your kid an amazing new toy and saying, "Hey, isn't this toy great? Doesn't it look like fun? Well guess what? It doesn't do anything! Have fuuuuuuun!"
