There's nothing I love more than effectively playing a champ in an unconventional role.

So I learned a little bit about a Leagues team this morning.



Their win rates don't seem too impressive, though.

They're only a gold 1 ranked 5's team, which is not the best. Far from it. I wouldn't care about them except they talk like they're the next team looking for that spot in the NA LCS, but they can't even beat a team comprised of diamond 1/challenger players in unfamiliar roles. FFS, Hotshot was on AD. WildTurtle was a god though. ANYWAY. Granted, Siren's AD wasn't there, but if a team relies that heavily on one person, it's a shit team. Also, a few of the members are basically the typical girl streamer on twitch. They make little to no attempt to be entertaining, their skills aren't worthy enough to warrant many viewers, but they still get thousands. They also ask for donations. That's more a peeve for all twitch streamers but these women happen to. As for their W/L ratio, anything around 60% is actually not bad. Still, it's probably a solo queue ratio which really doesn't count for much.

I don't understand why anyone would organize an all girl league team anyway. The text at the start said 90% of LoL players are male, meaning they could only find players from the remaining 10%. Why would any team trying to be serious limit the amount of potential players they can recruit? It's like trying to have an all gay team or an all black team. Yeah it's a neat little gimmick, but since the player pool to pick from is extremely limited, finding players that mesh would be super hard. Girl X might not be the greatest fit for the team, but that's the best that the manager has to pick from. Meanwhile boy X would be a great fit but he can't join. The manager is basically treating their players like women first and LoL players second when it should be the other way around. It would be awesome if a girl got on a pro LoL team, but due to a low amount of women League players, the lack of serious dedication among them and some managers straight up refusing to let girls join their team, afraid that it would mess with the team's dynamic for some reason (which is fucking dumb), I don't know if it'll anytime happen soon. I wish I could remember the team, but one in SEA iirc has a woman for a sub and another team in Korea I think has a woman as a manager, so that's cool and I wish there was more of that.

I think the one phrase that basically sums up the Sirens: they're a gimmick. They'd get destroyed in the face of true professional competition. They might be plat/diamond players individually, but the professional game is an entirely different level of teamwork and cooperation. They have a ways to go to get to that point.
