A reignofgaming articler has deemed it to be better than void staff and deathcap on most champions, so maybe one of those?

Is it bad that I'm stubbornly resisting the idea of formerly AD champs going AP?
Like, regardless of how viable they might be, I just find it annoying that they don't work as intended. Like Tryn, Kog, Trist... The only one I would consider using is AP Trist, but even then as more of an AP/On-hit/hybrid build, like Malady, Guinsoos, Liandry's, etc. (Disclaimer: I have no idea if this build would actually work)
But especially if I'm up against one of those weird not-supposed-to-be-AP champs, I find them incredibly annoying. Maybe I'm just nto used to countering them, I dunno. I know an enemy Kog'Maw mid screws me up bad - that slow just shouldn't do that much damage

It's an alternate build and when Riot develops a champ, they typically take that into account and balance for that too. They all work as intended and if there is a problem, balances are made. AP Kog used to kind of be a thing until the mana cost nerfs to his ult hit. AP MF is starting to see more play as is AP Trynd. Hell, you even still see AP Yi around. They're all completely viable builds and if someone can make it work consistently, good for them you know?
What you really gotta look out for is AP champs going AD. AD Ahri with that charm in lane is so deadly.

Ap Kog makes sense, but again I would prefer an on-hit type build just because his autoattacks are so nice. I don't really play Kog myself, though.
AP Trynd, on the other hand, is totally just a troll build that happens to work. All AP Trynd is is an unkillable guy with a sick heal. If you ignore him entirely, most teams won't have a problem with him.
Besides, it's also kind of a theme thing for me. A viking guy with a giant sword, who relies on hitting people for most of his abilities, and you build tons of magic items on him? It doesn't make sense to me. I do miss the days where regular AD Trynd was stronger.

It's only a troll build when it makes absolutely no sense. AP Riven is a troll build. AP Trynd and AD Trynd are exactly the same except you're trading AA damage for a sick booty heal. His E (his spin) scales just as well with AP as is does AD. Here. Watch this guy.
http://www.twitch.tv/qualityplayer/popout He plays AP Trynd almost exclusively and makes it work.

Added to that, you can't just ignore him because if you ignore him he's just going to push his way into your nexus.
Also, even though ap sion has kind of fallen out of style, riot accepted that ap sion was better(at the time)and changed his recommended items accordingly.

I meant ignore him in teamfights really. Obviously you still gotta defend your towers.
People should be free to find and use alternate builds for champs, good on them, but that doesn't mean I have to like seeing them.
Also it does really seem like alternate AP builds are becoming more common in season 3, for better or for worse. I guess its the itemization, AP just has so many good options, some of them are bound to work well on unconventional casters.

You know, if you really get down to it Kog'Maw was designed as an AS/AP hybrid carry initially.
Anyway I miiiiiiiiiiight just stick to AA/Sorc/Rylai's/Raba/Void/Situational, the 200~ AP getting a Raba instead of a LT tends to add more damage to actually finishing people off, and adds another 2% to W

I find liandry's to be super good with AP bruisers like Swain and Rumble. I would say Vlad too but I don't play Vlad enough to know how good it is on him.

I wonder if Liandry's is good on Syndra
Too many options for her to play

Liandry's on Syndra? Ehhhh. That would be more of a personal preference I would think. It's not a bad item on her, but there are a bunch of good items that could take it's place. I would say pick up a void staff instead unless their team is stacking health like mad. Then I could see that passive being helpful.

There might come a day when I'm good at Talon, but today is not that day.

His W-E-Q combo is ridiculous if you build him glass-cannon.

Oh I know how the combo works, I know how the build works, it's the whole not-dying-every-time-i-go-in-for-a-kill thing I need to work on.
Also going up against a Teemo mid was pretty difficult.
