You're also more likely to find someone who's good at ADC in ranked, so I think you'd do just fine

Haha, I doubt it.

I have had times where the ADCs on both teams were terrible, but I was the more level-headed support, while the other support started to rage at their team. So we won.

You still have elo, and it's used to match you with people, but it just doesn't show now.

They are still quite random.

Since I am at Silver IV, that's mid-tier, so you get idiots as well as pro-level players. Some matches can be a walk in the park, while others you get stomped on. I think that is how League works in general.

But like Ablu said, elo still exists as a "matchmaking rating"(MMR) and it goes up and down depending on your win/loss streaks(it takes quite a few matches to change, it doesn't happen instantly, just in-case you get lucky/unlucky).

Tiers are just a "progress" to show how far you have gotten. How it is supposed to work is that if your elo is lower then what you are ranked at, you start to gain less points/lose more so the elo can catch up. Likewise for if your elo gets higher then where you are ranked. You start to get more points then normal and lose less. Some of the pros have seen that they ranked from Diamond V to Diamond III, while completely skipping IV because their elo was so high.

Also, if you are ranked higher then your elo, you may be a Silver III fighting Bronze I opponents. Or if your elo is higher then your rank, you may be fighting Gold V opponents.

I was just in a normal draft pick, there weren't any trolls, just an Ahri that went top and did badly. They weren't a jerk or anything though, didn't even fight over top or anything.

Also I think I'm getting better at Chogath mid. Just gotta find that balance of tankiness and damage.

I'm thinking I should go for RoA, Rylai's, Liandry's. The Rylai's is pretty key for helping to land Rupture after I hit somebody and then it can combo with Liandry's. I used to get a WotA too but I'm thinking of making it more situational.

The only problem with this build is the gold cost, I think. I want to get to that Rylai's as early as possible. I might be getting a Kage's and a Philo stone if I can't get that farm.

I was never really a fan of stacking Rods even though its apparently the oldest trick in the book.

Good swain build? Hrmm... It would differ every match, but good items are RoA, Athene's, shit even archangel now that you can charge it up easily with his ult, deathcap and void obviously, and liandry's is good on him now that it works with DoTs. Really, it comes down to personal preference. RoA is something you should always get though.

Roa is a pretty tried and true staple, spirit visage is pretty much always my second purchase, the healing bonus, cooldown reduction and health is everything you need to stay alive and generally be swain. After that it really depends on how the match is going, swain isnt really a burst carry so damage doesn't have to be your main priority, by all means it can be but I tend to play him more a disruptive tanky sustained damage asshole.
