I recommend trying amumu and nunu, they are both fairly easy champions that performs their roles well.

Nunu's ult is such a pain to place right and forget it if the other team has a stun, silence, knock up, etc. Because then you'll probably only get 1 sec of channel before it's cancelled

That's the thing though, that's all their cc going on you and not your carries.
It's the disruption that makes it really worth while, the ludicrous damage it can do if they decide to ignore you is just frosting.

Is building an awareness of how powerful CC is really a bad thing anyways? Becoming one of the biggest targets for hard CC is only going to teach you which champions have access to it sooner so that you can avoid them or wait for those abilities to definitely be on cooldown before you try anything.

A greater concern, in my opinion, has always been teaching new players about the item system. The recommended ones are just outright bad more often than not, and even when they aren't, they still only adhere to one build. Adaptability is huge, especially when it comes to defensive items that become more or less useful based on the enemy team's damage output. That's not something the game is ever going to show you how to do - you have to either find it yourself or have it shown to you by someone who knows what they've been doing.

I think most mages are pretty good to learn items with. As long as you get AP you'll be fine and you can experiment with all the AP items and their benefits/weaknesses.

Also I find that the recommended builds for a lot of tanks are passable. The nice thing about tanks is that in general, your builds can be more reactionary to what's going on in the game instead of following a set pattern, the only problem is getting enough gold to build more freely. In which case GP5 items all day erry day

Edit-bumping for justice: the tournament is back on. M5's team comp, I don't even.

got bored before class, came up with a champ concept

SKYLER, THE TURBO TEEN

INNATE: Teenage Disdain: Skyler innately loathes everything, gaining ability power the more enemy champions are nearby.

Q: Stare of Disdain: Skyler directs his scorn at a single target, dealing magic damage over time as long as he stays near the opponent (Think Swain's Q but with eye beams)

W: Pick Up Babes: Skyler flirts with a target, dealing magic damage and charming them for a short time.

E: Pick On the Nerds: Skyler hurls insults at a target area, dealing magical emotional damage and slowing.

ULT: Joy Ride: Skyler "borrows" his parent's sweet car, rushing forward in a line doing damage. Enemies hit are knocked aside. At the end of the ride the car explodes, dealing additional damage.

retroactively looking at Pool Party Ziggs' splash art, Renekton would make a horrible Lifeguard.

He could dive right into the pool, just to dive right back out and ontop of the lifeguard tower instantly.

I would really like Vandal Gragas, but the problem is that I don't have him, and currently only possess 398 IP. Good thing there is a bonus IP weekend because a lot of grinding is in order. I'm definitely not going to buy him with RP, 975 for a 3150 IP champ is simply outrageous.
