Don't worry, I sucked when I first played. It takes a lot of practice. I mean I'm STILL bad at this game, and you won't get banned for "being a noob" because if the Tribunal sees your summoner level and shit I double they'll pass the judgement.

I'm kinda waiting for them to switch over the free champs, I think they do it at 1 AM EST though. I'm pretty worn out of the same daisies champs each game this week. SICK OF KOG'MAW holy shit.

Played a match as Shen last night against team AP. They had lux, soraka, katarina, nasus, and some other AP character. I laned with my friend who played as Irelia against lux and katarina, and he was doing terrible at the start of the match for no apparent reason. I immediately rushed force of nature, and then pretty much continued on with by build as usual. For some reason throughout the match my Q refused to work, and my E never seemed to taunt anyone. Meanwhile, Lux was hitting every single skill shot she had, even though I dodged every single one.

Me and Nasus were rival tanks, and somehow he ended up being able to 1v5 our entire team for a considerable amount of time, while still having significant damage output, and I was neither extremely tanky or damaging, even though I had all the good tank items. Also, near the end, our Shaco went to go solo baron, only to be met by the enemy team, so I ulted him, and whoops the enemy team decided to ignore him and go straight for our base.

Also, my teamies kept yelling at me for not protecting them. I replied by saying "I'm shen, not god.", because they constantly rushed into more than they could handle, and expected me to tank at 1/3rd health while they were at full health. At one point, though, I managed to save my bro veigar from the enemy team with a well timed ult, and we both got out alive. Also, their Katarina left at like halfway through the match at like level 14. They still won.

TL;DR: I don't always lose, but when I do, it takes an entire hour.

1. Good tank items do not make you a more desirable target. People will attempt to kill anyone who isn't you first, so long as they're in a convenient position to do so. You need to deal damage yourself, even if you trust your teammates to do a lot of it for you. This is why Atma's Impaler is such a good item, and presumably why it hasn't been nerfed despite giving people ridiculous amounts of free AD.
2. Nasus's Q ability, Siphoning Strike, gains a permanent +3 damage every time he uses it to kill a minion. There is no cap to how high the damage on this ability can become. Nasus himself is a very weak solo top champion who is very easy to keep away from your minions, but if you don't do this and let him farm his lane, you're just asking for him to crush you later on in the game.

Was having this issue sometimes as well. Something's going on, but it should be fixed next week since the champ was delayed.

#1: Nasus continually survived my whole team, while I could barely last a second against their team. That's what I meant.

#2: Nasus did go top with Soraka against Jarvan, so he probably farmed with that Q hardcore, especially since our jungler was concerned with helping us not get thrashed by Lux and Katarina. There was an ability Nasus was doing that would consistently doing nearly 1800 damage end-game, so yeah, that was probably the Q.

We never left lane till the second tower was almost down and like 17 mins in and the entire enemy team came after us. We pushed to the inhib after having like 4k gold from all the laning.
