There are many features about the game that gear it for casuals
Heroes have late-game scaling on all of their damaging abilities in LoL. I don't even need another reason to prefer it to DotA or HoN. You might think it's great that the second Lion gets Finger of Death, he has the power to instantly kill the first enemy he sees, but I would rather he reach that point by actually being better than his opposition until he has a clear level and item advantage over them. It would also be great if he kept that power for more than 10 minutes without degrading into a stun dispenser that hides behind something with actual scaling.

There's only one thing I miss from DotA, and that's the abilities with creative uses like Harbinger's Banish or the Prophet's Sprout. Use them to save an ally's life or to trap an enemy during an escape - it was entirely up to you and it rewarded skilled play far more than auto-target nukes or the hundreds of fully passive skills that you could sometimes find three of at once on a single hero. Riot's too afraid of trolls to put anything nearly as game-changing as Banish in League of Legends, and while I can't blame them given how prevalent assholes are in every MOBA community (just look at yourself - willfully ignorant and unafraid to bash a game you've only read about, posting in threads involving it like you expect people to agree with your biased and uninformed opinion), it's still a real shame that they think they stand to lose more than they gain by including complex mechanics like it. I disagree with them, of course, but I'll still play their game until something else comes along that promises more than a faithful mimicry of the original DotA. At least League of Legends is an attempt to improve on the source material, regardless of your opinion on how successful it has been.

I've actually been waiting for someone like you to come along just to bring up this topic. It hasn't happened in the HoN or DotA 2 threads, so this is actually my first chance to talk about the games as a whole and my thoughts on them. Sucks that it has to be with someone as reprehensible as you, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

If you ever see anyone bashing certain aspects of Megaman or Fire Emblem (and now, apparently, MOBA games), with complete disregard for others' statements and opinions and using as much belittling terminology as possible, it's just yet another RNFB troll account. Don't bother trying to respond to him, no matter how tempting it may be to post something sarcastic in response, because it just gets him going again.

I'd like to continue the comparison/debate between LoL and HoN/DotA gameplay, but alas, I only have extensive experience with the former.

Gane actually summarized my feelings about the differences quite nicely, I like mages and there is very little scaling for mages in dota and hon.

I also don't like the overabundance of stuns and there not being too much you can do about them tends to get on my nerves as well.

One thing I definitely like about hon that lol simply can't do and dota hasn't done (yet) and I really wish they'd do is rip off some of their more interesting heroes like flux, martyr, rhapsody, and engineer.

Not gonna lie, I impressed myself with this idea. Okay. Here's a way to improve Leona. With enemy champs affected my sunlgiht, all of Leona's CC durations are lengthened. Simple, but it could work.

One DotA hero I absolutely adored was Visage, the Necro'lic. You'd first fight against him and he'd be pretty unassuming for an early Int hero. No huge damage and no massive CC meant that he'd just sit in your lane auto-attacking creeps all day. And then you'd try to kill him, and... he'd sit there, auto-attacking your creeps. He didn't care at all about incoming damage because he got healed and permanently buffed by creeps dying around him (Trundle has this too but you'd never have guessed by the way he's played), and he healed all allies around him including himself for 25% of all the damage he took. Still, he wasn't especially threatening, so you don't really need to care about him, right?

And then he hits level 6 and gets his ultimate. It seems to have been reworked since I quit, but he used to use it to summon up to 7 permanent flying pets from the corpses of dead creeps. Then you got to choose between attacking him and accomplishing nothing, or attacking his miniature air force and watching them fly over the treeline and accomplish nothing. This being made on a RTS engine, he could send those things to an entirely different lane and actively push two towers at once. When I played him, I welcomed ganks like tank Mordekaiser on his release because I could run a marathon with enemy heroes desperately clinging to my back and I still wouldn't die. All the while, they'd be losing more towers elsewhere because I didn't need anyone to help me with my pushing. The very thought of a champion in LoL focused so heavily upon pushing, damage mitigation, and health regen is probably unheard of. Yorick seems like he was an attempt at this, but if so, I'd call him a failure because his pushing is unsustainable and he doesn't do it nearly as well even in a single lane.

In summary, Riot needs to give their champions pets that don't expire. DotA had a hero that permanently became four heroes with his ultimate, who all got the same item bonuses but could move and use abilities independent of each other. If any one of them died, they all did.

I'll do you one better. All units affected by Leona's sunlight are CC'ed as if they had been hit by one of her abilities, whenever she uses the same ability on a unit affected by sunlight within a certain radius. This consumes their (but not the initial target's) sunlight debuffs without dealing damage.

Finally tried out Volibear after procrastinating it all week. Oh my gosh I might have to get him instead of xerath/skarner. I got 18/1/5, the single kill being jumped by four champions at once when I thought there were only 3, maybe 2.

Fiora's skins look really nice. I might get a RP card and just buy her bundle when she comes out.
