World of Warcraft
Re: World of Warcraft
I wanted to create a separate thread for this, but I don't want to clutter the board so I'll just post this in the WoW thread.
I haven't played WoW in awhile, but there was something that completely endeared it to me:
The stupidity of people in PuGs.
Instancing in general was something I really enjoyed. Partying with friends, downing bosses, having near-scrapes and dancing with death. For this reason I have fondly compiled a list of things that I have found going horribly wrong in dungeons. This list is lovingly called Looking for Fail. I originally wished to make a comic series out of it, but it's been postponed for now, though have been thinking about reviving it again. In any case, I welcome anyone to contribute to the project.
- Huntard in all stat-less mail armor in Mauradon (Purple Crystals). Figured all hunters needed to wear mail so he sold off all of his greens and blues in trade for vendor whites.
- Met a melee boomkin in a Heroic. He was using a caster dagger to melee, was doing 0.2% damage and yes, it was an E-bay account.
- Elemental shaman going melee/being close to mobs (Hellfire ramps)
- RFD - Huntard shoots at mob above us, we are met with a huge ARMY of Scourge as they travel down the mountain, aggroing everything in between.
- Lazy Healer at Azjol-Nerub: "Omg why are you guys so hard to heal." /leave
- I once accidentally fell to my death from one of the platforms in the Nexus
- Mage ninjas Scarlet Belt (Scarlet Monastery) from tank and leaves
- belf huntard needs and takes tanking ring from tank in NR instance. When asked why they had taken it, she simply replied "because it increases my stats" and left
- Gnome lock SS's himself instead of the healer and leaves party once he gets to level 20 JUST to buy the mount and skills, then begs to be let back in (which he was).
- Ele shamans who use Thunderstorm on tank's mobs. Repeatedly.
- Huntards who need mana (now no longer an issue!)
- Locks that ask to stop to drink mana, commit hellfire suicide for no logical reason, and/or don't use imp/felguard etc in instances
- Rogues who unnecessarily sap
- DKs who don't know their class but go into instances thinking they're pimp
- 2-hour Wailing Caverns run w/ fail tankadin. He couldn't hold aggro, nor did he have the ability to resurrect the healer when she died. Was on a hunter, had to constantly peel aggro from healer or the lock/mage. Tank needs Cloudseed Buckler from the shaman healer, says "hahahaha suckers" then left. Ended up 4 manning WC w/o tank.
I also had a wonderful experience with a terribad troll healer on a server I used to play on. Not only did he DPS instead of when healing was needed more, but he liked using the Spirit of Redemption a little too much. As in, whenever he could because he could. He was so bad at his job that he single-handedly almost destroyed my faith in the priest class. (Fortunately that faith was restored later, but for awhile I hated priests because of the bad experiences.)
So who else has been lovingly hurt and anguished in pugs? Please let me know! If enough people like the idea I'll go forth into putting it into comic format.

Re: World of Warcraft
A friend and I were getting a group together for Ramps, back when there was no LFG grouping, we had to get a group together on our server. So we got a group together and our tank thought it would be a good time to get some Noggenfogger, so he wanted to take a good 20 minutes of flying to get down to Gadgetzan to get some Noggenfogger. About 10 minutes in, after telling him he doesn't need the noggenfogger! He finally gave up and accepted our summon.
After he took the summon though... I challenged him to a duel, he accepted, not knowing what I had in store for him. To get a little revenge on wasting our time for something so pointless, I mind controlled him off the ramparts, into some orcs, then kicked him from our group.
He was not pleased, yes, I am a jerk.

Re: World of Warcraft
Speaking of being a jerk, I was on my druid and healing some instance when the dps began being rude to each other, spamming macros and getting each other distracted. Then the tank joined in on the idiot party and they were all basically being a bunch of idiots. Knowing I wasn't going to get anywhere, I stayed silent and waited until they were clearing out trash mobs, aggroed the boss then left the group.
I snickered about it later in the global channel, but my guild leader and another guildy were not pleased about it. Something about it not reflecting right on their guild. They were kind of hissy about the fact I hadn't been participating in the guild either, despite the fact that my toon was ICly dead so I could work on leveling him more.
~Whatever~.

Re: World of Warcraft
I've had some winners in pugs, like the fury warrior with a healing trinket.
When asked why he had it, he replied "it ups my gs". His name was Yaidabest.
When we started the vote to kick, the reason stated was "his name lies".

Re: World of Warcraft
a friend paid for like 2 months for me since he needed a good guy to group with
Zul'gurub goes bad because the randoms were terribad, and the mage we want out just goes into the dungeon and sits there being a douchebag
>mfw Misdirection, run off to the left, pull that hive queen (from the entrance), watch as it slowly stealths over the mountains about to rape himself a douchebag mage
> bueno.
I seriously think I just play this game to troll the odd jerkwad and pvp a bit while on mumble.

Are you playing your DK?
Re: World of Warcraft
You had a very horrible mage if he didn't Invisibility or Ice Block or Mirror Image that aggro away.Chaossebba wrote:a friend paid for like 2 months for me since he needed a good guy to group with

I was always able to escape death with that combo. Ice Block next to the warlock, then Invisibility while he's getting eaten. Very useful in raids to not die.
Stuff goes here later.
Re: World of Warcraft
Off and on, I might go on for a bit right now though.

Re: World of Warcraft
Only reinforced the fact that the people I get in pugs are horrible, terribad and manage to push out a grand total of 5k dps in Heroic + Epic gear.
And cannot grasp concepts like, DO NOT STAND IN THE POISON, or LEARN TO STAND ON GOD daisies CHAINS DURING THE JINDO FIGHT.

Indeed. Always worth it to hear "HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL ALIVE FLAME?" over Vent as I dance on their corpses after a wipe.iamthelordhitman wrote:always the better choice in my opinionMadican wrote: Sometimes they did, and then it ate the healer.
