So my roommate is playing through The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for the first time. Does the game give any explanation for why you can't do the Wind Temple before the Earth Temple? He tried to go to the Wind Temple first, and the game let him make all the preparations towards entering the temple up until he needed to find Makar, and Makar simply was nowhere to be found. And the game didn't even give any explanation for where he could have been.

So what I'm wondering is, is this just another flaw in the game, or are we missing something?

P.S. It's really hard not to spoil everything for him and tell him where to go next.

That happened to me too.

You just have to do them in order. There is no explanation, it just doesn't want you to do one before the other for some reason.

I felt Wind Waker was a rush job.

It's very buggy and not at all user friendly (especially when compared to Ocarina of Time).

EDIT: I got Wind Waker and Majora's Mask confused there. sorry.

Wind Waker? In what way is it buggy? I don't think I ever was disturbed by that game :?

Well, in that case, I can agree.

I alyaws hated Majora's Mask when I played it, but now when I look back at it, it seems to such a better game than I remember it.

I think the key is NOT to compare it to Ocarina of Time all the time. The main quest is a little "meh", but some of the side quests are pretty fun to accomplish, and god how scary the alien invasion is when you're alone in a dark room at night. The music is so horrifying.

I only got the second temple of Majora's Mask and I still loved it more than Ocarina of Time.

I've never gotten past dodongos cavern (mostly due to lack of interest) in OoT but I beat Majora's Mask and I thought it was a pretty daisies good game.

I was having a thought. What if Nintendo made a new Zelda game in N64 graphics like OoT and Majoras mask, just as epic as any Zelda game, with great N64-ish music and so on. Would it work today?

I mean, then they can put more effort into content and care less about graphics. I sure wouldn't mind since "Gameplay + Music > Graphics" in my opinion.

Thoughts on my thought?

I only played MM until you were about to go to the fire temple or whatever the second dungeon after the wood temple is.
Never got further because the game was only rented... and after that I wasn't really interested in purchasing it, because the 3 days thing was so annoying. So, goddamn, annoying. Not even my father wanted to buy it, and he's an absolute Zelda freak.

I'm pretty sure the dungeon after the wood temple was the ice temple, but yeah you got fire arrows and used them alot in there.

I don't see how the 3 days thing is annoying. it's like 3 hours of gametime (after the song of inverted time) before you gotta reset, which honestly is usually more than I play at once anyway.

Ice temple... I just remembered you got the Goron mask, and my brain put in the jigsaws itself hurr I read the walktrough as my gaming magazine had it, but I just remember it barely.

And the annoying part for me was, that I had to go back to the temples after the reset. I think. Heck, I don't even remember why it was annoying for me. Well, I still wasn't a good gamer around that age, and Zelda was hard for me :>
