I've never played any castlevania game, so I don't know. Megaman 10 is fun, but you probably already know that.

I bought Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin yesterday.
Haven't really played PoR yet, but am I ever gonna get a whip in DoS?
Using an axe in a Castlevania game feels kinda weird. Still a great game, though.

If you have a PSP, get Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles.
It has the best old-style Castlevania (Rondo of Blood) remade, and it has the best Metroidvania (Symphony of the Night), too. It's version of SotN isn't a complete remake, though, but it's changed slightly.
IT IS MY FAVORITE PSP GAME EVER.

The NEW Castlevania game, which isn't being made by the normal team, sounds like shit. The team working on it now, is the same team that made Clive Barker's: Jericho which is a terrible game in all aspects. The guy developing it also wants to make it a linear game which ruins the entire idea of playing a Castlevania game.
Also, when the game started out, it wasn't gonna be a Castlevania game...
They just decided to attach the name (after getting the rights) because they had nothing better to do

Uh, you do realize that every Castelvania game before Symphony of the Night was
incredibly linear, right? This could just be a case of the series returning to it's roots, and, since Rondo of Blood and it's remake was awesome, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Or do you mean linear in a different sense?
