:psyduck:

What's the point? They both preordered. It doesn't matter if you preorder on the last day or on the first day.

Exactly. I think they're stuck in the mindset that the first ones to grab it are the bigger fans but it just proves they were able to spend cheddar at that time or didn't have as many doubts. There are plenty of reasons explaining their actions but none which would make them any real priority over the later ones.

Heck, I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I only pre-ordered it recently because I just found out about the pre-order code in a local retail store.

Edit: I also take back about my feelings on the wave invites. I didn't see that they do those waves to make sure the servers stay stable. They send out waves and if the servers don't start breaking down, they may send the next wave earlier.

So I think that business model works out in the end because they want the servers to keep working through it.

I'm the biggest Star Wars dork in my town and I'm not even interested in TOR.

Don't let the die-hards know I said that.

I will slap you so hard your mother will cry.

But naw, it's alright. There are so many stories in different timelines in Star Wars, it's alright not to like the Old Republic era.

You won't be an outcast if you don't play it either. There are enough books to make you drown in Star Wars knowledge and MMOs can get kinda bland.

I'm also a bit excite for the novel about Revan coming out although I'm not sure if I'll be able to get it.

The last few pages of this thread have all been about DLC this, DLC that, business/greed/etc, and this isn't the first time it's come up. Shouldn't it get it's own thread?

And why would a company hand out free unlimited multiplayer passes?

@Ame, the company will base it's decision on what customers are willing to buy. If companies start selling crap games without features, no one will buy them. The economy forces them to put out quality products, else a competitor will come along and push them out of the market with.
Sorry, gotta chime in here.

'Loses the Sale'? Buying the game used means they probably weren't going to buy it at full price anyway, so that argument flies out of the window.

Plus, they aren't handing out unlimited multiplayer passes. The person who originally bought the game bought a server slot. The person who now owns the game uses that server slot. There is bodaciously no distinction. The companies just want cheddar, cheddar that they already got from the original purchase.

The economy forces them to put out quality products? Call of Duty and its infinite clones would like a word with you. Games like that aren't sold because they're good games, they're sold on brand power alone.

Quality products means products that satisfy the customer, not that satisfy you.

Nope, if there's no major difference between used games and new ones only an idiot would buy a new one. Saying people that buy used games would never buy it full price is a false assumption that you have no proof to back up.

It is correct that the developer sells it games to the retailer, but if the retailer can just keep reselling it's games when customers return them, or when customers buy less games because they are buying them used elsewhere, the retailer doesn't buy from the developer anymore and the developer loses sales.

Well there's nothing stopping people from selling their online accounts is there? If people just sell the game disc without the account, they are still the owners of the account, even if they can't technically access it any more.

Seriously guys, most of this is basic economics.

Exactly. To many, Call of Duty games are great games.

Well the thing stopping sale of online accounts is almost every ToS states that if it's discovered, and when someone clear across the country from the usual logs in one day, the account gets banned.

Well if it's in the TOS that's too bad then.

The company sells the customer the right to play on their server, and they have no obligation to transfer those rights if the customer decides to sell his disc. It would mean extra logistic cost for the company since they have to deactivate the old user's account and create a new one, as well as check if the sale is legitimate and they gain absolutely no cheddar for it.

According to my brother Valve just announced a game proving they can count to 3.
It's probably Left 4 Dead 3 but we'll see.
