I stopped playing that after the fourth/fifth dungeon - I think (the one where you learn how to fish for giant hermit crabs).

I need to get back on it and finish it.

Do it. And make sure to do the sidequests, those are pretty fun (but finish them sparingly, they get prettyrepetitive) and some characters from Tail Concerto make an appearance in a series of side quests.
