Re: General Game Gabbin'
In my opinion Portal 2 tried REALLY HARD to be atmospheric, while in 1 it just seemed to come naturally.
Like in Portal, you see the Ratman den and say, "Well, I guess things are not what they seem"
Whereas in Portal 2 you get a giant sign that says THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM

A game doesn't have to do something wrong for somebody to not like it you know.

of course notGryewolf wrote:A game doesn't have to do something wrong for somebody to not like it you know.
except, can you think of something the games really did objectively wrong or badly, at least to a point where they can be on the level of normal games?
Re: General Game Gabbin'
Okay. See that's impossible because Morrowind, Oblivion, and the Shin Megami Tensei series all share the "greatest games ever" title.Galaxy Man wrote:portal 1 and 2 are the greatest games ever made and i dare someone to try and argue that point

Which was pretty much my point.Kalekemo wrote:The term "greatest" is completely subjective :l

In the set [8, 4, 5]
8 is the greatest value

Since this is garbled English, please refer to the brutal attack of confusion.
Re: General Game Gabbin'
I've never played either but the most common complaint I've heard about Portal 2 is that the puzzles only have one set solution or something because the areas where you can put portals is limited or something.Galaxy Man wrote:portal 1 and 2 are the greatest games ever made and i dare someone to try and argue that point, because it's very hard to think of what they did wrong

Oh, man, I was so upset. I couldn't easily kill my co-op partner.
Re: General Game Gabbin'
And then we saw how different opinions make for different choices. I personally think that most all shooter games that have come out recently aren't perfect(portal i guess is a puzzle shooter and is close to perfect, however perfect may not be able to be achieved). Games like MW3 are somewhere around a 6/10 but have a lot of fans, and they can be fun. I think BF3 would be about 7.5/10, though I enjoy it a lot more than what I would give it. The newer elder scrolls games(never played I or II) were very good all around, though I was never able to get into oblivion(soon as you are let out of the tut i explored and turned off my game, don't know why). Morrowind was amazing all around, and from what I have seen on oblivion its just as good(or better?) and they would get about a 9.5/10. Portal games get the same. This is just my idea.
I just hope MW3 hype dies out fast as people realize its nothing different than MW1 with a few more gimmicks, guns, and small changes to details. It doesn't look to be vary innovative, though that's because MW1 has already come out(it was a little bit of a new style of shooter, an arcade yet realistic style run'n'gun FPS). BF3 seems to be a tad more innovative, but not in basic game play, more in the visual and detail to destruction departments, the gameplay is vary similar to BF:BC2(never played 1 so I wouldn't know) and has some elements from BF2.
The most important thing about a game, though, is that you have fun with it, the second most important thing is the community(this is why I like BF games better, mixed with a little more team oriented gameplay).

i can actually point out several very big flaws in oblivion. never played either of the other two though.Madican wrote:Okay. Re: General Game Gabbin'
My problem with Portal 2 (since we're kind of talking about it) was that they were trying really hard to make it longer and justify charging it as a full priced game and ended up adding unnecessary rooms/puzzles that re-used puzzle elements from earlier rooms and even then it only took me 5 hours to beat it. Plus, to me anyway, it has very low replayability since I pretty much remember all the puzzles as I come across them (same with Portal 1.)
Don't worry, it will. When Activision announces the next CoD game.Zorinth wrote:I just hope MW3 hype dies out fast as people realize its nothing different than MW1 with a few more gimmicks, guns, and small changes to details.

Re: General Game Gabbin'
That's nice. I had more fun with those games than Portal 1 and 2 therefore they are the better games as far as I'm concerned. Oblivion NPC AI is just as funny as Portal jokes anyway, especially with the console.Galaxy Man wrote:i can actually point out several very big flaws in oblivion. never played either of the other two though.Madican wrote:Okay. @Zorinth, The thing is though, CoD has a formula that works and now they just keep refining it. In a sense, for many people it is close to the perfect game, as adding new features (such as vehicles) might disturb the delicate balance that it has. The highest critical acclaim (and thus the highest scores) should be for titles that are bold and try to innovate, rather than push an existing formula towards perfection. That is not to say the latter games should get low scores or that innovative games should always get the highest scores regardless of whatever issues they might have.
