One: source plz
Two: this isn't exactly 'under the radar'
Well, a saloon singer named Glittering Goldy drugged Scrooge and robbed him of his Goose-egg nugget. He tracked her back down, ripped apart the saloon with his bare hands and dragged her back to his claim to teach her a lesson. Then, after a month of sexual tension including a bear, a mammoth, handfuls of beaver spit and a rescue attempt by cowboys, this happens:

That's, slightly disturbing but a bit different. Kids won't get a sex reference like that, where as steam-punk apocalypse is... pretty straight forward.

I don't know much, but I doubt steampunk and steamboat are the same things. Though I'm probably wrong.

It's true that Disney would never let this go down. An epic Mickey game, maybe. But not epic in this way.
Walt believed that good storytelling came from elements that are shared by all people. (Hence the family-oriented nature of his company; children aren't excluded from higher-brow storylines.)
I'm going to argue the point that the first Kingdom Hearts game was epic for its use of this maxim. It was simplistic and yet still managed to tell an enthralling story with its own depth to it. (We can argue on our own how KHII managed to screw everything up by needlessly complicating the original simple themes.)

Yeah, it's a shame they seem to have forgotten that and only make movies aimed only at kids nowadays. I wish they'd go back to when they made movies that everyone could enjoy. Either way, I agree that this is nowhere near child-friendly enough for Disney to possibly endorse and accept.
I completely disagree with what you said about KH, though. I felt that KHII added much-needed depth to the overly-simplistic storyline of KHI, and also drastically improved everything gameplay-wise except for making the levels linear as hell.
Edit: I just want to point out that I am just stating my opinion and am in no way attempting to start an internet argument.

Disney doesn't need to make good movies anymore; it has Pixar as its bitch now.

I find it ironic that people say Disney started going downhill when it started moving away from 2d animation to CGI, yet the people still making great animated films everyone can enjoy animate exclusively with CGI.
It's like our worst enemy has become our closest friend...

Pixar just writes good movies. The animation style is nice sometimes, but imagine if Pixar put all the effort forth that they usually have to on a CGI film on a regular hand-drawn film.
