Re: Splatoon
My bro got to play a round them it crashed. Never saw if he got to play more because my mom made me go and work in the garden. Kept singing the squid kid song the whole time.

Got on halfway through the original timeslot, ended up getting a full hours worth anyway which was pretty great.
Anyone else notice there were WAY more Japanese players this go around?

Re: Splatoon
Well, the last Testfire before this one, on May 9 at 12PM PDT, took place at 4AM Japan Time, while this one, at 3PM PDT, took place at around 7AM in Japan. I'd say that would probably make a difference.
Re: Splatoon
Will there really only be 5 maps at launch? What the fuck?

Re: Splatoon
I feel like its to focus on making those 5 maps the best the can possibly be, Splatoon has wildly different movement controls than some, so all of the maps need to be heavily checked to make sure each one is fun to play on, I also think that there are less maps to focus on Quality over Quantity, as games with tons of maps always tend to have "That" map that on one ever wants to play on.

Re: Splatoon
Also don't discount the singleplayer stuff that is also a part of the game. It's not JUST an online multiplayer game released with 5 maps. There is also the full singleplayer.

Re: Splatoon
Are there more details on the singleplayer available yet? From what I gather it'll probably be around 6 hours in length, which is fine, but seems to me like the focus is still on multiplayer. Even if it wasn't, games like Half-Life managed to have both a solid single-player campaign and a good amount of maps (in addition to the ability to make custom maps).
Yeah that's the typical excuse, however even Titanfall managed 15 maps (and people still complained about that). I feel like 10 is about the bare, absolute minimum for a multiplayer-oriented shooter (for comparison, UT2004 had 50 new maps and a total of 121 at launch). It's not even that the 5 maps are vastly unique in theme, they're all urban or industrial themed.Liraxus wrote:I feel like its to focus on making those 5 maps the best the can possibly be, Splatoon has wildly different movement controls than some, so all of the maps need to be heavily checked to make sure each one is fun to play on, I also think that there are less maps to focus on Quality over Quantity, as games with tons of maps always tend to have "That" map that on one ever wants to play on.

Re: Splatoon
"Yogurty's"...
Gosh darn why can't the US have great names like that? All we have is "Menchie's". What does a "Mench" have to do with yogurt?
And Freestyle Yogurt but that's TWO words, so the rolly-offy-tongue-ness is lost.

Re: Splatoon
A truck full of limited edition versions of Splatoon was stolen in the UK, which means GAME won't be able to fulfill all their preorders for the time being
