The Pokemon thread
They were utterly pathetic in Ruby and Sapphire though. They only had two Pokemon (not each, two Pokemon combined), and both off them had the same 6 weaknesses! It was quite easy to defeat their entire team with a single Surf or two![Citation Needed] wrote:I like you less now.Chloemew wrote:I'm tempted to start Emerald again, seeing as though I got to the double battle Gym Leaders (whatever their names were) and then never got any further because I couldn't be arsed to spend ages beating those reporters to a pulp for experience. This time though I wanna use Pokemon I haven't had in my team before, something I seem to have started doing recently (hence why I don't have an Ampharos in SS, but I don't care because I have my Magnezone <3)
Although it's weird because I think I've played through R/S/E the most out of all the generations and yet I remember the least about it. ._.
They are the greatest gym leaders in the entire history of the Pokemon series.
Tate and Liza.

Yeah, but I still really liked them.Plasma wrote:They were utterly pathetic in Ruby and Sapphire though. I don't recall ever having any difficulty with Tate and Liza tbh.
Probably anything with the move Crunch destroyed them, which is a move I always try to have in my party.
In R/S/E it was probably a Seviper.
Yeah, I'll put type-disadvantaged Pokemon against gym leaders...
And I'll win.

Here's what my Emerald team is looking like so far:
Dinowarlok the Tropius
Level 29
Growth, Razor Leaf, Stomp, Steel Wing
Epona the Plusle
Lv 30
Fake Tears, Shock Wave, Quick Attack, Spark
Palenque the Sableye
Lv 30
Cut, Faint Attack, Fake Out, Night Shade
Charles the Gardevoir
Lv 31
Calm Mind, Psychic, Double Team, Facade
Wilbur the Marshtomp
Lv 30
Tackle, Surf, Mud Slap, Water Gun
(I accidentally replaced Mud Shot instead of Mud Slap T_T)
And then I'm gonna get a Vulpix and name it Unbalanced.
Derp.
(Just an FYI, I have a female Gulpin named Bacon. I only caught her so I could use Rock Smash.)

As for Tate and Liza, the game practically throws advantageous Pokemon at you.
Solrock and Lunatone are part Rock-type. Mossdeep is an island. Fish for something good. Their main weakness, Dark-type, was presented to you at the beginning of the game.
I'm not saying Poochyena and Mightyena are great (I think they suck), but they're options.
And I got my booty handed to me by Tate and Liza in my first battle with them. Back then I only trained one Pokemon, my starter.
Blaziken aren't good with Psychic Pokemon.
