My Umbreon is special attack based with a Rash nature and a Highly Curious sub nature. It's S.Att is much much higher then it's Attack. I made sure it was like that when I was breeding it. Also, I taught it psychic to deal with any poison or fighting types I might come across.Deiphobus wrote: @silver_wolf
I highly suggest teaching umbreon payback, it's useful. i wouldn't go with psychic though, because umbreon is slightly more physically inclined. umbreon's best stats are in its defense though, so you won't need to be focusing on attacking anyways.

Charizard does sound good. Decent speed and special attack, and I could use something to switch in on grass attacks with. Better still, it gets STAB on steel and fighting types, which I could not hate more if I tried.Deiphobus wrote:@ganelon
i'd suggest getting a fast and powerful special attacker for that last position

As for Payback, I'd have to disagree. It's certainly a good move, but an all-dark team is going to need all the extra type coverage it can get. It doesn't have a lot of advantages over Sucker Punch either, although it does have more PP and the ability to deal damage when the enemy isn't attacking.
I recommend either Taunt to keep enemies from buffing themselves and using status attacks or Toxic to kill other tanks by outlasting them. I think Umbreon is also capable of learning Mean Look, but without any damage potential it could just draw fights out to be unnecessarily long.
Ignorance is not the same as innocence.

A mean look toxic combo might be a good idea. I might just get rid of Faint attack and give it mean look and get rid of Confuse Ray and give it toxic. Any Pokemon that isn't poison or steel will die in 8 turns.Ganelon wrote:Charizard does sound good. Decent speed and special attack, and I could use something to switch in on grass attacks with. A lot of Steel and nearly all of the good Poison types are tanks, though. You'll need something else on your team to help deal with them, even with Psychic.Silver_Wolf wrote:A mean look toxic combo might be a good idea. I'm going to assume your Tyranitar knows Earthquake and your Houndoom has some sort of fire attack, so you seem to have that covered. You should probably teach your Weavile Low Kick just to be safe, though.

My "strategy" to beat Red was basically to keep using potions and revives untill his Pokemon's attacks had no more pp left.iamthelordhitman wrote:just beat red in HG with a 53 gengar, 49 ho oh, 31 gyrados, 51 typhlosion, 55 vaporeon, and 53 amphraos

My Ampharos was a pretty high level, though.
