Actually, the touchscreen and the microphone are both emulated.

But... it's a portable system! How are you supposed to play DS games on the go? What.
I have never done this. Maybe once on vacation, but only for a little. Mostly, I'll just have it plugged in and playing. It doesn't fit in my pocket, and using it in a car makes me feel a little nauseous.

Not as portable as a DS! I have trouble using my laptop on the bus or (worse) walking, but a DS can be used easily in either case.

And is a LOT lighter.

Plus if you have a really crappy laptop like mine it will only give you about two hours of battery life.

That doesn't come from having a crappy laptop. That comes from having a really good laptop.

Battery power really hasn't come as far as the power requirements of the newer laptops.

AHAHAHAHAHA!! My laptop must be the exception. It was made in 2004, is super-slow, and cannot play games. At all. I tried to install Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (2003 or so) on it and it wigged out whenever I tried to play it.

And it doesn't read my camera's memory card either. It wipes the card's memory instead.

Yes, but laptops used to last a lot longer because battery technology was AWESOME and the power requirements of laptops were not.

Power requirements have gone up exponentially and battery technology has not. I have a low-end laptop (currently broken ;_;) of the 2008-2009 kind, and it only lasts 1-1 1/2 hours or so when running, say DW6.

I wish I had a Pikachu so I could plug my laptop in during long car rides and not worry about battery life.

If that's the case then shouldn't you have Light as your avatar? It would fit better... XD

While I wouldn't download say, pokemon heart gold, I see no problem in downloading pokemon gold. There is no profit for the makers of the game anymore. They simply don't make the game anymore.

You don't get them. Durr.
Microphone is emulatable as a button-press.
electronic goat wrote:Most of the games that use these mechanics a lot are pretty bad anyway (with a few exceptions).
Metroid Prime: Hunters, WarioWare: Touched!, LostMagic, and Kirby: Canvas Curse, Elite Beat Agents, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! 1/2, The World Ends With You, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks, that's just off the top of my head. Most games that use the microphone are pretty unsophisticated, but a few require you to do more than blowing into it (there's some Guitar Hero DS game that supports singing). Also, microphone chat. But you can't really do that either way because there's no Internet support in emulators.
You must be missing out on so many great titles. It makes me sad.
