Roy's our boy.

Wait you thought I was talking about FE? No, I was talking about the Koopa.

He's a cut veteran. A sad reason, but so very true.
No one cared that much about Mewtwo until he was cut from Brawl and not in Smash 4 and then announced as DLC. People were rejoicing on the streets when Lucas was announced as DLC despite the fact that Ness's customs are Lucas's specials and that Lucas being in Brawl gimped Ness hard and Smash 4 was Ness's chance to shine again.

Roy is considered the worst lord in FE and a lifeless clone in Melee, and people will still buy him. He could be exactly the same as he was in Melee and people would still buy him.
I'd buy him, but of course I never played Melee or FE Binding Blade, so it doesn't matter to me.

Also, Shoolis, it's not a poll, it's a suggestion ballot. There's no guaranteed winner, only popular suggestions.

ness having lucas' moves as customs means basically nothing when lucas' main strengths weren't even his b moves, it was that fucking glorious up smash.

and unlike marth, roy is actually somewhat of an interesting design so

...How exactly did Lucas being in Brawl 'gimp Ness hard'? The grab release issue would have likely been present in Ness regardless of whether or not Lucas existed, and the general consensus is that Ness was better in Brawl anyway.

In regards to the whole 'custom specials' thing, I saw that as a pretty poor substitute. The reason I liked playing Lucas was for his tilts, aerials, and especially those glorious smash attacks. I mean, only one of Ness's customs is even that accurate - PK Freeze and PK Fire lose their speed, which was the main reason they were usable in the first place (and confirmed to not hold true for DLC Lucas either), and Magnet is utterly crippled. It no longer auto-pivots to catch projectiles coming from behind (though that's understandable), heals less than Ness's default magnet when Lucas's actually healed more than it in Brawl, and does basically chip damage and knockback where Lucas's could even kill.

And as for Smash 4 being Ness's chance to shine again, sure Lucas stole a little of his thunder (ha), but Ness did get his own new stage, some fuckin' amazing music tracks and most of all is bodaciously the best he's ever been competitively. He's hardly been overlooked - in fact before the DLC the only mother game without meaningful content was 3.

Personally, I'm thrilled that my main has come back, and he'll be a day one buy for me. I mean, I might be a bit biased thanks to my slant towards Mother 3 as a game on the whole, but that's beside the point.

What are you talking about? From what I've seen many people prefer Lucas to Ness in Brawl.

man I suck with bbcode

From what I can see here, Lucas is currently considered inferior to Ness, though until early 2010 they were considered fairly equal.

lotsa text
Yeah, Ness' customs don't function like Lucas' versions of the moves at all. I don't know where people keep getting this idea, but it's been around since launch it seems.

I'm pretty sure a PSI Magnet he holds in front of him, a faster PK Thunder that goes through people, a PK Fire that isn't angled in the air but lingers longer, and bodaciously PK Freeze is pretty much Lucas

It's nice to get his unique standard attacks back, tho

i think someone may have already mentioned why your point is completely wrong, not even too far up in the thread
bodaciously only two posts above wrote:I mean, only one of Ness's customs is even that accurate - PK Freeze and PK Fire lose their speed, which was the main reason they were usable in the first place (and confirmed to not hold true for DLC Lucas either), and Magnet is utterly crippled. Looks like we got another leak.

If they're fake, they're pretty convincing.

Well, it looks like at least a little work has gone into making Roy not too bad of a Marth clone. I still probably won't buy him, but the thought counts.
