But if they were looking to make room for a more diverse roster wouldn't squishing lucas and ness into one char make more sense? maybe have lucas be an alternate costume or something.

They could just have a really big roster so everyone is pop flyin'!
Seriously, the chances of them getting rid of LUCARIO is very likely. I gave up on using him as my favorite due to thinking of that!

The roster's expanded around 10 characters a game so far. Don't expect the most drastic of changes... except on the 3DS version, which is explicitly stated to be the more innovative version.

Why would the 3Ds version be more innovated? Shouldn't the game for the wii/wiiU be more innovated due to the fact it would hold more?
1 thing that might be interesting is to add more customization. I don't want them to add miis (since they look bad!) but maybe a character that looks cool that you can develop. I was thinking maybe a basic fighter guy but could look different depending to the heart's desire (since you would get to customize it!). Customizable move set included!

I'm not sure, but I believe the idea was 'you take a fighter, customize stats and shit and if you want a big party brawl you can export them onto the Wiiu version'.

Not the stats, that would be unfair. Maybe if he is slow/strong average or fast/weak and how he appears. The move sets would be fun to play with! Exporting them would be the idea or even playing on the 3Ds vs friends on the WiiU version would be great.

That's kind of what I meant by stats. Also, they'd have to balance out in some form, so in what way would it be unfair?

I thought it would be stats like in pokemon how the more you use it, the stronger so it would be unfair to n00bs.
The balance would be the type of move set you chose like I said before with the slow/strong, average and Fast/weak thing. Most slow characters are stronger to make up for it and bla bla bla. It would probably be an average determined by the game producers for the power of which the moves are so they would work out how much power to add to a certain move set based on the speed.

The only problem is that speed/power aren't the only things that go into balance. If a character can combo a slow opponent into a very high damage percentage, then it wouldn't matter how weak the character is.
Bam. OP.

If they are indeed going to use stats (the idea MAY be scrapped once they actually start, we'll have to see). I'm sure there will be a limited amount of deviation you can do. Like maybe you can make your attacks a few points weaker and apply those points to make the attack faster. However, you probably can't reduce speed by alot and make your character massively overpowered.
Each character will probably have natural stats (Ganondorf will likely be naturally slow but with powerful attacks) that can be adjusted, by levelling them (and getting access to new points that don't need to be shifted around) or by moving their prescribed points around (with some limits).
If they do levelling, they likely will cap it early and make it easy for new players to get fully levelled up (like maybe you just get levels for beating each of the main modes with the character). I don't see a massive "Level 100 experience grinding" system appearing in the series.

So the unthinkable has happened Meta Knight is banned from Brawl. I never thought this would happen in a million years.

Nope, but they've been experimenting with banning him for quite some time now.

The game has been out for 3 years and they now decide to ban him. Whats next they ban Snake and I have to learn a new main. It's too late to ban Meta Knight, three years of hard work from Meta Knight players is worthless now.
