I wouldn't be that surprised if they did take Mother out. They haven't made any new games for awhile plus Mother isn't well known.

Mother isn't going anywhere. It's wildly popular in Japan, and it's not like they just recently stopped making games. Mother's actually really well known even in America now, despite not being released here.

They should make a new mother game. Since Star Fox 64 3D came out as well as Fire Emblem getting a new 3D game, Mother should get one as well since all three games have characters in the SSB franchise.

So Ness is probably going to stay but what about Lucas?

I never really cared for Ness or Lucas anyway.

Probably get a new character from the Mario series - either Toad or Waluigi, perhaps. Maybe Paper Mario at long last.

It's difficult to say who of the other F-Zero characters should be included, Captain Falcon has kinda made himself the chairman of that series, kinda like Samus has of Metroid. At this point I feel like it's unlikely for either of them to accompanied by another character from their own series in a new roster.

I feel like Lucario is certain to be dropped, but I might be wrong about that - Mewtwo may return alongside Lucario AND a new Pokemon representative.

Hopefully Krystal will accompany the Starfox crew next time around - if only to boost the female-to-male ratio.

Hopefully, they'll add Shulk from Xenoblade. I've been playing that game alot lately and it's pretty cool. Also, it gives me an excuse to want Reyn or Dunban as an assist character, and to have one of them pretty locations as a stage.

I don't think Xenoblade really has any reason to be in...

If anyone DOES get added from F-Zero or Metroid, it'd have to be Samurai Goroh and Ridley...those are the most developed characters in the series. Though Black Shadow could work too, I just don't think he'd have as cool of a moveset.

Knuckle Joe from Kirby would be cool. I also wouldn't mind Espio (Sonic) and Kamek (Mario)

Lyn would be a pretty bad booty playable character though...

Charizard was an assist trophy and became a character.

Most assist trophys would make good characters, like Waluigi or Isaac.
