Besides, I like both Ness and Lucas. They bring a lot to the game and are more than different enough.
And this would be a reason for Nintendo/Sakurai to leave both characters in their fan-service laden game that they're trying to sell for cheddar?

Granted, Nintendo can't release these games so ROMing is the only way to go, but ultimately, I think they're going to look at what the Japanese fans think about the characters popularity (and not just solely in the scope of Brawl, but the Mother series itself) and not give much of a shit what westerners have to say on the matter.

It's a dead series at this point (though it could still come back), and Lucas was added for promoting the series when it was still (somewhat) fresh. Frankly, I'd say the promotion characters (like Lucario and Ike) are probably all going to be traded for fresh faces.

Besides, whether they keep Ness and/or Lucas or not fans are going to bitch anyway, so~

Have you even seen Starmen.net?

I'm aware of them, yes, and I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

They're probably one of the most vocal fanbases in the history of video games. At one point, they actually organized a mass event to PHONE Nintendo of America and ask for the Mother series to be released in America and clog their lines with the same question, over and over until they "caved in". It failed, of course, because there were more factors than fan support, and by now they accept that the Mother series probably won't be released in NA, but I'm wondering what their reaction will be if Ness and/or Lucas will be cut out of their most popular Western appearances.

Well if they're cut, it won't be like they were censored/not exported. If they make it into the Japanese version of the game, they aren't going to cut them from the western audience just because "they don't have the games". Marth DID debut to western audiences before there was even a single Fire Emblem game out, and it wasn't even meant as a "this will get them excited for the new game we're going to release", it was just being consistent between the versions.

And whatever their reaction is to the issue is likely to be dwarfed by the rest of the internet. If they're upset, there will likely be as many that are just as upset, or VERY pop flyin' about the issue. SSB is one of those series where every decision is taken by the internet fanbase as "RUINED FOREVER"/"the best thing ever".

So their opinion on Ness and Lucas's SSB status isn't very notable in the scheme of things.

I like the bit about a faster Samus. If they did that, I would be so pop flyin'.

It's bigger in Japan than it is here...but yeah, it's not going to develop any more, and if they DO add anything new Earthbound it would feel awkward...

As for the other promotional characters...yeah, Lucario has no real reason to stay over other pokemon. In Ike's defense, he's not quite the same as Roy; Roy was pure promotion, and had no real magnificent reason to be in Brawl otherwise. Ike, however, is the only protagonist who's come close to Marth in terms of importance to the series overall, being in multiple games and all. He also represents the localization whereas Marth represents the Japanese roots more.

Yes. Internet likes to bitch things...

Jigglypuff is awesome. I take it you have not learned how to bring down the murder hammer using the awesome power that is the Jiggles.

There are a few things I had in mind for the next Super Smash Bros. game. One is alternate costumes/characters, like Wario had in Brawl. It is cooler than a color swap, and it would make room for clone characters. I also had a few ideas for some stages. One is a Super Mario Galaxy themed stages, where players have to be hit very hard to be knocked away from the center of gravity on each of the floating planetoids in the stage. To mix things up, there will be a black that appears and erases the gravity on those planets. Of course, it would be bad to get sucked in.
Jigglypuff can be good if you know how to use it right. Most players, as they are usually n00bs, don't.

Also, about that SMG stage...
Yeah, I remember that comic. It would be funny if it ended up like that in the end.

So I was looking through the roster, and I thought of some cool ideas for awesome alternate character/costumes. The ones with question marks are uninspired.

Mario - Dr. Mario
Luigi - Mr. L
Peach - Rosalina/Sporty Peach
Yoshi - Birdo? Not sure about this one.
Bowser - Dry Bowser
Link - OoT Adult Link/Fierce Deity (Not really)
Toon Link - OoT Young Link, with a Majora's Mask look
Zelda/Sheik - OoT Zelda/Sheik
Ganondorf - OoT Ganondorf, with the OoT Ganon final smash
Donkey Kong - Funky Kong? Kiddie Kong?
Diddy Kong - Dixie Kong?
Samus/Zero-Suit Samus - Dark Samus/Dark Zero-Suit Samus, which I made up?
Kirby - Yarn Kirby/Gooey from Kirby's Dream Land 3?
Meta Knight - Galacta Knight from Kirby Super Star Ultra (awesome)
King Dedede - Masked Dedede/Yarn Dedede?
Fox - Melee Fox/James McCloud (FOX WITH SUNGLASSES. SO MUCH BETTER.)/Krystal (lol, no)
Falco - Leon Powalski?
Wolf - Uh...uh...Star Fox characters are HARD.
Captain Falcon - Black Shadow
Pikachu - Pichu
Jigglypuff - Igglypuff?
Lucario - Mewtwo (which I preferred anyway)
Pokemon Trainer - Female Pokemon Trainer (Why was this not an option to begin with?)
Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard - This is a tough one.
Ness - Ninten?
Lucas - Masked Man?
Marth - Roy
Ike - Any other Fire Emblem character that wields a two-handed sword with one hand
Ice Climbers - Switching between Nana and Popo? I don't know.
Mr. Game & Watch - Realistic Game & Watch?
Olimar - Louie
ROB - Ancient Minister? Nah.
Pit - Original Pit?
Snake - Big Boss/Old Snake
Sonic the Hedgehog - Gee, I have not a clue./sarcasm

Got any cool ideas for alternate characters?

If that was real, the GLORIOUS NIPPON logo would have Universe in Japanese, right? Like, I'm pretty sure that's what the logo was like in Brawl, at least

Probably not, since they wouldn't get to put that stupid U in the title because Wii U.

The sheet could very well be faked and seems to be made to be controversial. And hey, new characters are awesome if they really did get a lot of 3rd party support.

Are you sure your uncle is correct? All I know is that if they remove Mother from the game, my friend will be EXTREMELY annoyed.

I don't mind since I decided to main with three characters so the chance of 1 staying in is likely + I'm pretty sure they're going to change Lucario to something like Zoroark. (I main Lucario, Luigi and Marth).

I am pretty sure he is only joking. Do you know about those nerds will show and lie about their uncle who works at Nintendo so they can sound like a credible source when they spout out nonsense and utterly fail? I think he is imitating one of them.
