In-game, you're told the police arrived to the scene almost immediately. And the witness didn't leave during that time. So it's frustrating.
These games are so good but at times the frustrating bits make me want to throw them into a closet for six months.
Dang it I just want to advance the story but Gumshoe is giving me bodaciously nothing to go on.
When in doubt

Volt in Tales of Eternia! I always dread him because he just wrecks the AI. Sometimes I luck out and get him stuck in a loop of Splash and being stunned by my Trident but apparently not on Hard Mode. I tried five times on my Hard run and I actually had to take a long break from him. I need to get back and grind but the fact that he has an attack that does a crapload of damage to everybody in an area and the AI isn't smart enough to get the hell out of the way makes him pretty frustrating. I can get out no problem but I need Meredy alive so she can help me keep him pinned.
I love every other part of the game but Volt is always a big hurdle for me.
Also, Magaki in King of Fighters XI. Projectiles everywhere! Which wouldn't be so bad if I could cancel them out but nope, you can't.

That immortal regenerating Necromorph in Dead Space. God I hat it. Who thought putting an immortal enemy in the game would be a good idea?

it's actually like the only parts of any of the games that actually have, you know, a horror aspect to them

Hardest part of the game for me because I blew all my ammo killing that thing over and over.

the point is to incapacitate it, then ignore the shit out of it, and focus on anything else in the room
otherwise you're basically asking for it to murder your face

Oh my god! I hate Quickman! Not as much as the turret boss, but I still hate Quickman.
Oh, and thanks for reminding me of the boss gauntlet in Mega Man 1. I freaking hate that part! It's the only reason why I can't beat that game. I always ragequit at that point.
Always.

Trials are the best part of Phoenix Wright games but sometimes the evidence they want you to provide makes no sense at a given time when there are three other things that can say the same thing better.
"Can you prove that the witness is lying about this blackmail letter?" YES because he's wearing the ring the blackmail letter is referring to IN HIS SPRITE. Whoops you tried to use the actual blackmail letter as evidence? WRONG, it's a newspaper article that doesn't even mention the ring.
God dang it.
If I remember correctly, you had to prove that the Blackmail Letter DIDN'T have anything to do with Ron, and as the letter mentioned a
red ring he had, you are supposed to present the
Newspaper Article that says that the
only gem DeLite ever got - in his first heist - was blue
Still a tad farfetched, though.

I wasn't talking to
Ron DeLite at the time, though, I was talking to
Luke Atmey. I was trying to prove that
the blackmail letter was for him and not Ron and earlier in the episode, when you talk to
Luke he mentions he was given a red ring as a "prize" for returning a stolen painting.
I assumed that Phoenix, upon presenting the
letter, would say something along the lines of "Hey, remember when you told me this thing earlier? Well, I remembered it and now I can prove it was you." Phoenix often mentions things witnesses told him outside of court during a trial, so I assumed he would do it here.
The
newspaper article makes sense in order to prove
Ron's gem was blue, not red, but normally that wouldn't even be necessary, Phoenix would just say "I heard this earlier" and the judge would accept it. So it's more of an "expectations of what Phoenix will say have been unnecessarily changed."
